Pretty straightforward here, but I really wish the scale generator had an option to show the intervals instead of the note.
Example: Instead of listing the "G" note in an A minor Pentatonic/Dorian etc., as a "G" note....list it as a "b7" etc. That would be a GREAT addition to the scale generator!! -------------------- ![]() ![]() Check out my awesome Nintendo Cover-band, EMULATOR!! http://www.reverbnation.com/emulator Now.....go practice!! |

You might actually learn it better if you try and 'decode' the intervals as an interactive lesson, no? -------------------- All the elders have fallen down...

Certainly, and I'm trying to use that as a learning exercise. But, my handwriting isn't as nice to read as a printed scale chart.

One thing I realized, which I hope doesn't make it more difficult to add this functionality....
The current scale generator allows you to click any notes and "customize" the scale. If a "show notes as intervals" function is added, it would either: -cancel the ability to "create" your own scale showing intervals. -allow you to create a custom scale with intervals, but you MUST select a "key" first, so the intervals would be relative to that. -allow the current functionality to customize a scale, but if starting from "blank" (or with no key/scale selected) the generator would default to showing "notes" instead of intervals. BUT, if "show intervals instead of notes" option is selected AND the key is selected (for example, if modifying an existing scale/mode) then the "intervals" would show up as to match the "intervals" already shows on the scale generator. I hope that is clear. I've done some small bit of programming, so I can see the "logic" behind making this happen. But, I've only dealt a little bit in SQL+ so I won't pretend to know how to re-program functionality into your scale generator. I just want to help if possible BEFORE undertaking the re-coding necessary to make the functionality work. It is very possible I believe, but it can't contradict any existing functionality as well. -------------------- ![]() ![]() Check out my awesome Nintendo Cover-band, EMULATOR!! http://www.reverbnation.com/emulator Now.....go practice!! |

I use a program called Neck Diagrams for all my fretboard layout stuff really good for printing chord shapes, scales etc with either intervals and notes.
