Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Original lesson: Thrash Like Mustaine by Ben Higgins

First recording since 28 December 2012, so quite a while. The REC syndrome kicked in, and I think it sounds more aggressive then what I played most of the time.

It's really cool to see this track in the REC Zone !!

There's a few issues that need working on..

1. Timing.. you have a tendency to play too far in front of the beat especially in the main riff.. it's a bit too rushed. I also think you're missing the open E string that begins the riff each time.

2. The bluesy hammer on licks that start around 0:20 and on each repetition afterwards.. the notes are not quite happening. It's just your fingers that are not used to doing it smile.gif

3. Some of the open A notes are missing on the end section, like at 0:30

It's awesome to see you back.

Btw, your picking technique is textbook perfect.. so relaxed and minimal movement ! cool.gif

Hey again Marek!

Ben spotted the exact things you need to focus on, in order to make the best you can out of this lesson. I agree with his points and I will only add the fact that you should slow down, incorporate the suggestions and then after feeling comfy with things, raise the speed gradually.

Keep rocking!

Cosmin

Hi Marek! Ben already gave you very good feedback with the things that you need to have in mind to improve this take. Many riffs there needs to be polished but it's just a matter of practice. It's a fast lesson and needs some more time to sound tight.
Keep on the hard work!

Since Ben is the author of this lesson he can easily point the smallest details. I couldn't find anything else to complain. Very nice take though
