i wrote this song a few months ago, as everyone can tell i recorded without a metronome (yea stupid idea but i was just learning to record then so didnt relise it had the feature:P).
ive done all the parts myself and would like some feedback on the guitar playing/singing/song structure... anything except recording really cos i was just learning how to. thanks for listening p.s. it was recorded in about march so hopefully i've improved since then.

Well, I typically listen to heavier stuff, but I like what you have.
The blend of the acoustic rhythm and little leadish parts is very nice - creates a great feel and they have good separation. To me, the bass is a little heavy in the mix, and the vocals are a bit low and kind of blend in, not really having a place of their own. Some muted drums, down in the mix like sidestick or something may give a bit more life too it too. Also, there were some parts in the electric lead that sounded a bit off to me. But as I said, I think overall it was nice, and I wouldn't consider any of those items super major problems - just trying to give some ideas to try and improve on. Hell, truth be told, I'd be happy if I could feel like my mixes could turn out that well, heh. =) -------------------- |

You know me, I'm a ballad guy, and I love this one... only thing I had trouble with is the bass, I think if it's volume was lower it would benefit the song, I also really love that you don't try to outdo yourself and don't try to play things which are too fast or too complicated for you, when you try doing that you just sound uncomfortable, but here you sound smooth and clean, great job.

thanks.
the bass isnt actually a bass lol. its a guitar going through a bass pack on the POD XT... not brilliant but it worked to an extent. thanks for the advice -------------------- Guitars: Epiphone Les Paul Standard w/ Dual EMG 81 Pickups. Hey man you know I really like it. It has some really good qualities. The singing is at a really good volume and the tone fits just right. The lead sounds awesome, real clean. I like the lead a lot. The bass line is real strong and pulls the song together nicely. Good job I really dig it.

That was quite cool, although I think the overall sound was a bit thin.

ok man, i already had alot of respect for you as a musician, but after hearing this, i think your going to be huge someday. ok, so the main areas where you cold improve; make the vocals louder, tone down the bass volume, and youve got a hit song on your hands. by the way, your voice, i wish i had it!

Love the vibe ... I have a couple of rythmic production tips for you ...
I always think strumming on an electic sounds a little ill defined, nice as the textures ir creates are. You generally need something more to hang the song around. I have found 2 solutions over the years: 1. Use an accoustic for rythm - it is much more percussive and gives more of a sense of rythm., You could double it with the electric to keep the dreamy texture 2. If not drums, use a percussive instruments sparingly, such as a tambourine or shaker, maybe playing 4th notes Also, your low-mixed vocals have already been mentioned. The actual performances are great, I liked the song, a little bit of production could really make this shine! -------------------- Check out my Instructor profile

Very nice and gentle song man. Guitars needs to be more cleaner, too much chorus there, and cleaner without so much drive (you need more headroom). Also voice is little week and in the same range as guitars playing, so they confront in the sound range.
