As a moderator, im often moving threads around, but even I am unsure of where to put this one
Ok, so for some time ive wanted to slow down some of my favorite youtube vids so I can learn some of the more complex guitar runs. Ive found a free application that allows simple downloading. I was under the impression I could then slow these down in windows media player, but that does not appear to be the case. I have the speed settings bar up in media player, but there is no slider. I cannot seem to slow down these flash videos. Any ideas what im doing wrong? regards Matt aka fishface

Ok so I had my Pod for over a year now and in all honesty ive never been happy with any of the "tones" ive dialed in. The truth is Im still really flying blind with tone/sound shaping, infact im just twiddling randomly with the knobs
I know very little about EQ settings basically, im one of these people who sits down every day and practices hard, ignoring learning about recording and sound shaping etc. I would really like a modern bright and punchy shred sound ala Paul Gilbert , Yngwie Malsteen etc (not a dirty heavy metal kinda sound though). Any general tips with EQ and tone shaping much appreciated

OK so I have been practicing seriously a while now, and I have a technique skill set and enough theory knowledge to work with both simple triad chords and extended chords alike in a given key.
I really enjoy practicing over GMC backing tracks but I would like to make my own backing tracks to aid my own compositions The backing tracks our instructors provide with the lessons are really cool, ranging from basic chord progressions with a simple drum beat, to epic instramental afairs complete with violins and the such. My question is , how do you guys do it? And more to the point, how would a newbie go about making his own ? What software do you guys typically use? Is it easy enough to do? any advice most welcome ! regards matt |
