Well obviously guitar but basically I just love music. I'm a bit of a sports nut especially Hockey and Baseball. I love the outdoors especially in the winter as I am an avid snowmobiler and well it's Hockey season too :) I have been know to go fishing on occasion as well. I watch way too many movies, read a lot of books and I spoil my 3 dogs to no end. Well I think that pretty much sums me up...

Hello gang,
It's been a while since my last visit but things have been kind of crazy on my end. I won't bore you with all the details but I will say that my NYC trip was... well... there is not enough words to describe how wonderful it was!! Saw a hockey game, saw two broadway shows, met one of my favourite actors, ate my face off (may have had the odd beverage as well So what's new with you guys? rok

Well like the title says I'm headed to New York City!! I leave this coming Wednesday for 6 days. I have never been to NYC and am kind of on sensory over load as to what to do and see. I have some stuff planned. I already have tickets to the Rangers/Islanders game on Thursday (I love my hockey
There is so much else I'd like to do but wondering if any GMC'ers can help me weed through everything and get the best bang for my buck. I'm not big on all the tourist stuff but I would like to see some museums and maybe do the Top of the Rock. What would others suggest.... is the city pass for $89 a good idea or is there something better? Sunday the 10th is also Chinese New Year so was thinking of going to Chinatown. Also looking for some good eating suggestions. Heard the River Cafe is nice... any thoughts? Something tells me this won't be my last trip to NYC LOL!! rok

.... you find a new artist or a song that you just can't stop listening too
Discovered this guy today via a friend of mine and the second I heard this song I just couldn't stop listening to it. How I never heard him before I have no idea... but I've lost count how many times I listened to this today. My head has been bopping and my foot has been tapping all day!! Love him!! His name is Matt Andersen and he is from New Brunswick, Canada. Great blues guy and does some pretty cool covers too. Seriously I've been listening to this all day. Sometimes it's just nice to keep it somewhat simple... open d and just a great rhythm I'd post more but my internet is really slow this evening. Check out some of his other stuff on youtube. It's pretty great imho. rok

Hey GMC,
The last few weeks have been pretty bad for me... Lots of stuff happening at work, my computer has been on the fritz, one of my doggies has been really sick and to top things off I messed my ankle up pretty bad last Saturday and have been on crutches ever since So today... pretty much on impulse (although I played it a couple weeks ago)... I called up the guitar dealer I usually buy from and bought myself a shiny new Martin D28. That is how I deal with weeks of blah!! Retail Therapy at it's best... I'm a happy little girl now rok PS: FYI... my doggie is doing OK now and the ankle is still pretty sore but healing. My computer for the most part is fixed but still a few bugs to work out

Hello GMC!!
This is so stating the obvious but Youtube is such an amazing place to find bands you'd probably never have heard of other wise This band is two young girls from Sweden called First Aid Kit. I think they are in there early twenties and I have to say I am so loving them. Such great voices. This is Gregory Alan Isakov. Some may know his song "Big Black Car"from a McDonald's commercial. I'm really liking his stuff too. Hope you like... and share any recent finds as well rok |
