Well obviously guitar but basically I just love music. I'm a bit of a sports nut especially Hockey and Baseball. I love the outdoors especially in the winter as I am an avid snowmobiler and well it's Hockey season too :) I have been know to go fishing on occasion as well. I watch way too many movies, read a lot of books and I spoil my 3 dogs to no end. Well I think that pretty much sums me up...

It has been a while since I was here last. Some of you know me some of you don't. I have been here at GMC for a few years now and it has helped me a lot with my guitar playing path. Now for those who don't know me, I am not in a band or anything, just play for me... and the occasional house party I have come a long way since I first picked up the guitar 8 or so years ago but I am no where near where I should be... or want to be.
I have stuck mostly to the acoustic the last few years as most people want you to play sing a long songs at parties and stuff but I find myself once again wanting to learn more on my electric. I want to do more than just chord songs!! I've started and stopped this part of my guitar playing so many times now I have lost count but I am going to give it another go. I usually get really frustrated and go back to what I know but I really want to challenge myself. I've set a couple goals for myself actually and a 6 month time table (my birthday is in a little over 6 months so figured it's a good goal time ) Some of my goals are to make sure I practice everyday, work on my alternate picking and also my picking speed, learn another scale other than pentatonic work on theory knowledge and also learn a new song including solos by my birthday, keep a guitar journal of my progress.
Small goals, but achievable. I have renewed my subscription as well so will be doing a couple videos... just gotta figure out which ones to start with now So watch out GMC... Rok is back!!!!

It's been a while since my last visit but things have been kind of crazy on my end. I won't bore you with all the details but I will say that my NYC trip was... well... there is not enough words to describe how wonderful it was!! Saw a hockey game, saw two broadway shows, met one of my favourite actors, ate my face off (may have had the odd beverage as well ) had a great sing along at a wonderful little irish pub, caught up with a friend I hadn't seen in 20+ yrs and saw some historic NYC locations. I fell in love with NYC and am currently planning my next trip there
So what's new with you guys?

Well like the title says I'm headed to New York City!! I leave this coming Wednesday for 6 days. I have never been to NYC and am kind of on sensory over load as to what to do and see. I have some stuff planned. I already have tickets to the Rangers/Islanders game on Thursday (I love my hockey ) and I also have tickets to see Cat on a Hot Tin Roof for Friday night (I am a huge Ciaran Hinds fan and he is playing Big Daddy) Ya gotta see a show when in NYC My also go to Phantom or maybe Wicked haven't decided yet.
There is so much else I'd like to do but wondering if any GMC'ers can help me weed through everything and get the best bang for my buck. I'm not big on all the tourist stuff but I would like to see some museums and maybe do the Top of the Rock. What would others suggest.... is the city pass for $89 a good idea or is there something better? Sunday the 10th is also Chinese New Year so was thinking of going to Chinatown. Also looking for some good eating suggestions. Heard the River Cafe is nice... any thoughts?
Something tells me this won't be my last trip to NYC LOL!!

.... you find a new artist or a song that you just can't stop listening too
Discovered this guy today via a friend of mine and the second I heard this song I just couldn't stop listening to it. How I never heard him before I have no idea... but I've lost count how many times I listened to this today. My head has been bopping and my foot has been tapping all day!! Love him!! His name is Matt Andersen and he is from New Brunswick, Canada. Great blues guy and does some pretty cool covers too. Seriously I've been listening to this all day. Sometimes it's just nice to keep it somewhat simple... open d and just a great rhythm I hope you enjoy it as much as I do
I'd post more but my internet is really slow this evening. Check out some of his other stuff on youtube. It's pretty great imho.

The last few weeks have been pretty bad for me... Lots of stuff happening at work, my computer has been on the fritz, one of my doggies has been really sick and to top things off I messed my ankle up pretty bad last Saturday and have been on crutches ever since So to say the least I haven't been in the best of moods.
So today... pretty much on impulse (although I played it a couple weeks ago)... I called up the guitar dealer I usually buy from and bought myself a shiny new Martin D28.
That is how I deal with weeks of blah!! Retail Therapy at it's best... I'm a happy little girl now
PS: FYI... my doggie is doing OK now and the ankle is still pretty sore but healing. My computer for the most part is fixed but still a few bugs to work out
