Hello GMCers!

I have this Squier Standard Stratocaster that I absolutely love. Something about it just feels right in my hands and I have been working on replacing some of the lower end stuff (ie machine heads) and the next upgrades on my list of improvements are pickups!

Now, I have been researching different pickups for a few days, but I just can't seem to find any demos on YouTube that demonstrate the tone I am looking for(besides humbucker demos, which won't work in my Strat).

So I have come to the GMC community in hopes that you might be able to point me in the right direction. I am looking for some single coils, stacked or not, that will help me to achieve a Led Zeppelin/Jimi Hendrix/Classic Rock tone.

I'm not so worried about the price as I do plan on playing this guitar long term, so I can save up for expensive pickups.

But if you guys know of anything that could help me out I would be very grateful!

Ok, so I have been on other forums where I have started this topic. It is quite interesting to see what other people's desktops look like.

If you need help figuring out how to take a picture of your desktop and then displaying it on this thread, send me a PM. I would be glad to help!

Rules:
  • Keep the size down, we don't want your desktop taking up the whole page
  • No nudity please, people take offense
  • No Bashing anyone else's desktop
  • No controversial issues as desktops(Example: No words praising one religion over another)
  • Explain your desktop, if you want!
Alright, I will kick this off:

It is just a simple theme, black with Jimmy Page's infamous mark. I love Jimmy Page, so I enjoy looking at this background every time I turn my computer on!

Alright, so I was searching through YouTube looking for some cool guitar videos when I came upon Zack Kim. It did not take me long to get hooked on his melodic songs and interesting style of playing! He plays double Ibanez guitars(I could not find what model they are to save my life)! Well enough of my talk, take a look at him for yourself:

Super Mario

The Simpsons

Fur Elise

For All You Final Fantasy Nutjobs: Chocobo Theme

Learn It And Play It For Your Girl: White Christmas

He also has a few of his own creations! I'll post my favorite one, anyone who has been clubbing will agree that this would be amazing to see in a club:

Dear Tiesto

He's a very talented man!

His YouTube Profile

His Website

His Myspace

Enjoy!

I think we can all agree that this man definitely has talent. He is indeed an amazing guitarist!

But!

He is also an amazing person!

I would just be excited if he stopped and talked to me!

So I find myself in that pivotal point in everyone's life... college.

I am a freshman this year and I really have absolutely no idea what I want to do for a career. In my honest opinion, the classes are stupid, it feels just like high school only I have to pay ungodly sums of money to get this education. mad.gif

If I could find a job that would let me live on my own and practice guitar everyday, buy new guitars, amps, pedals, etc... I would be a happy man until the day I died. The problem is I don't know what to do! The first thing all of my professors said to us was: "Why are you here?" I had no solid answer for this other than "It is what I am... supposed.... to do?"
So I am just wondering, asking, for some career advice. Did you go to college? What did you major in? If you didn't what do you do, and how does it affect your playing? If you did or did not go to college are you happy?

Please help! unsure.gif
