don't know the best album, but can write some very cool songs:
Groover Washington - Lock It
Groover Washington - Black fr
Groover Washington - Funkfoot
Groover Washington - Mister M
Groover Washington - Juffure
Definitely recommend!
Come on, no Kool and the Gang?
I'd pick up Kool and the Gang - The Very Best of for tracks like hi de hi, hi de ho; jungle boogie, of course celebration, fresh, get down on it, etc.
Also check out some red hot chili peppers, a lot of their stuff is very funk based.

you 're Welcome
Hey Joe, what about making this a sticky like the other recommendations lists in the bands&artists forum? We're missing a funk one

And in addition to RHCP and kool and the gang, I'd also like to add Talking Heads

I love funk
