first of all - you have some pretty good lessons here - compliment.

Im just practicing your lesson: i got rhytm guitar 5 muted apreggios.
I really love this lesson - but the muting is driving me crazy.

Its no problem to play the notes or the alternate picking, the only thing not working is the muting - specially of the high e string.
Ive learned, and i found some helpfull stuff about muting here in the forum, that you have to mute, for example when you play the g string, the strings above the played strings with the palm of the right hand and the strings below with the index finger of the left hand.

as far as i can see in your video, you are not muting with the index finger. So when i try to mute all strings with the palm of my right hand everything is working fine - but not the hight e string. when i play the melody of your lesson, everything sounds fine - but there is always a "sound" of the hight e string. When i stop playing to check the position of my right hand on the bridge all strings are mutet - only the e string is not. There is just enough space between the palm of my hand and the string to allow it to swing and to produce noise.

Is it a bad habbit, did i lern the wrong mutingtechniqe from the beginning?

can you give me some advice, please.

Hi Petar, thanks for the comments, it's a bit difficult to state the problem, because I can't see your right hand position but in theory you should shift and adjust your right hand palm position when you gets on high strings, don't worry it's not so easy in the begin, I practiced palm muting for the first time nine years ago!

You need some time to internalize this movement. Wound string are easier to mute because there is more metal, and resonate more, so you don't need to be accurate as you need for plain strings.

For G B and E you have to be very accurate and place your right hand palm where the strings came out from the saddles, also they have some offset, duo to intonation and you hand should very very slightly adjust you hand to it.

You are right, the only thing that will really help is: practice, practice and practice :-)

I play on a vox ad30vt and i never had such a gainlevel to really recognise the bad techniqe.
A few weeks ago i bought my first distortionpedal. A marshall guvnor, because i love this old southernrock sound.

Now playing with this distortion shows up the bad muting. I try to keep the palm of my right hand where the strings come out from the saddles. But when i play the e a and d string and mute them, it seems that i heighten the bottom of my palm just enough that the high e string is not muted anymore. and that makes the not desired sound.
But now that i realised the fault i will specially pay attention on this.
