Hi,

I'm trying my luck with your wonderful "Soul lesson".

It's beautiful and a lot of fun to play! For a beginner/intermediate player like me, it contains lots of challenges.

One I find hard to overcome is the little fast run in the second part (solo part?) of the piece.

I can play it slow (at let's say 60-70 tempo), but it seems to me I can only make it this fast and not any faster.
(I'm not really a shredder, so usually I'm not into speed...I do appreciate though, when it functions as a little "decoration" like here..).

So I play the little bit over and over again, but it's really hard to make it any faster. Off course I could just let out some of the notes, i.e. play it like a "normal" sequence. But that's not what I want. Because it sound so cool when kept!

You already know the secret my frind, keep doing it until it becomes comfortable at higher speed!
Patience is the key here and try it faster than you can every once and a while. :-)

I am trying to play your Soul Lesson. I guess you use Guitar Rig 3 as well, don't you ?
I am trying to find a good preset for the kind of sound you use in that lesson. I am a total newbie with GR3. I am still trying the software atm.

I am answering my own message. I found some nice sound with a Plex amp and 4x12 cab (like the Jimi Wing) upon which I add a flanger. That's not "your" sound but it sounds cool.

It is a lot of fun to practice your lesson. I guess I worked like 10 hours on it for now (absolute beginner inside ) and the motivation to play it is still intact.

I currently don't master the dynamics at all. Actualy, I am still training the hybrid picking. The way you make it sounds is still a mystery for me. And I have to analyze when and how you "drum" your cords with your left hand (dunno the exact term of that technic)... Well, still a lot of work !

As for the tone, I used a Boss GT8 for that, but you certainly can get a great tone with Guitar rig too!
