You could also do Bathory- Blood, Fire, Death and Hammerheart era. That's the true originator of Viking Metal.

Don't think Slavic folk metal should be a part of "viking metal" series On the other side lyrics are what make the difference.. One band that wasn't mentioned and could also be of any use is Månegarm, although Bathory lesson would be cooler;)

Yeah, there are pagan\folk but i would say it`s part of this genre too, just different, it can`t be viking metal, because there was no Vikings amongst Slavonic people

Not so much Folky but definately viking themed metal - Helheim (saw them last week as a matter of fact and they were awesome)

The prevalence of treasure-hoarding in southern Sweden during the 1000s has led modern archeologists to believe that the threat was indeed a very serious one, and the Icelandic sagas themselves often seem to assume that "Vikings" in the purely piratical sense were almost as likely to be Wends (Vends) as Scandinavians."
According to our present knowlage, we can suppose that the team of pirates from Jomsborg was mixed, Slavic - Scandinavian, but after 1000 the Slavic element among the Jomsvikings was in majority."

There were even Slavic buildings discovered on Iceland, so we can assume that vikings were of different nationalities, not only Scandinavian.
