Hi Trond:
I had a great time learning your Rock Solo, Beginner lesson. I've uploaded my take for your review. Let me know what you think. I think I need to work a bit on some of the pre-bends. Hope you can tell from this recording in which I doubled the guitar part. One track was with the neck pickup, and the other with the bridge. The video is of the neck recording. Getting two identical takes was tricky but was a good exercise since both takes have to be very close to one another for it to sound right....

Looking forward (hopefully smile.gif ) to an intermediate version of this lesson!

No worries. I'm at work too.

Praetorian, thanks for the feedback. Yea, the sustain is mostly cause I'm using lots of gain!

I thought it was great! smile.gif Some hits and misses with the bends and also some timing errors here and there. But for the most part i think it was really good!
It had a nice flow and the sound was top notch. Some of your slower bends was spot on, especially the first one.

From what i can see in your playing, your picking hand seems a bit stiff and it's almost like your in a hurry to play the notes. I think you would benefit greatly with a more relaxed hand.

I'll work on relaxing for sure. You should see my facial expressions when I'm picking as fast as I can. It looks like a wrestling match laugh.gif

I wonder if there is a balance between how hard you have to hold the pick and how relaxed your hand can be. I noticed that with a metronome I can get pretty relaxed at comfortable speeds but then as I increase tempo, I tend to tighten up thinking the pick is getting "floppy" in my fingers. I really have been wanting to increase my picking speed. Improvements have been slow for sure but measurable.

Also, when recording, especially videos, I notice that I still get pretty nervous. It seems like it's easier when I'm just practicing. I'm thinking that's a good reason to keep making these videos of my takes. Maybe the nervousness will wear off. I could imagine what playing live is like!

Thanks for your feedback, and for taking a look at my take. It's good to know that I've got a pro looking at my progress smile.gif .

That was awesome! I'm still working on the song myself.
