Ok Tiago, here we go with new MTP rules. You will be required to submit 3 assignments in October, all on weekly basis.

1st assignment is due on 17th of October.

I want you to upload audio and/or video of you improvising over Blue Bossa backing track. You are also required to create backing track based on the lead sheet I am providing you in this thread.
No need to do intro, just focus on the main section. 2 choruses of improvised solo is a minimum requirement here. Feel free to use approaches we covered in September in your thread.

Let me know if you got any questions!

Hey Pedja

Already done the Blue Bossa Improvisation audio.

But I don't like the jazz tone of my POD. I have to find a better one there. When I play this on my amp (Fender hot rod Deluxe) sounds much much better.

But I will still upload this just to check if the notes are on the right places. Just please think of this as an kenny burrel/wes tone because thats what I have on the moment. Or Pat Metheny in Question and Answer with Holland and Haynes.

Did only 2 choroses but I have gas for a lot more if needed!

Tiago this is fine for rubato type soloing. I want you to have a specific rhythm in the background or at least some sort of click that listener can hold on to. Do you need some help with bossa drums?
Paiva
Yes I do need help with drums and bass.

Pedja I also tried to do a note of the chord everytime when i beggin a phrase to people hear the harmony when I'm soloing. Any advices on how to do this better? It's something that I've been recently studying.
Pedja Simovic
Tiago I will make a baking track for you. I am going to Belgrade today and will be back very late in the night.
Hopefully I can post it for you here tomorrow!

Regarding your question, you should try to play strong chord tones when starting with new chord to set up listeners ear. Practice soloing with chord tones and this will sort itself out!

Tiago here is a backing that Marc_Maiden made!

He wanted to share it with everybody and encourages you to use it for your solo.

Tiago checked them out. We have to work on phrasing on the beat more in future assignments. I will assign you something very closely related to this in your 2nd assignment this month.
Melodic ideas are good but execution is very rubato like, at some points too laid back with the backing track.

Tiago we are moving to your 2nd assignment for this month. We will focus on phrasing !

2nd assignment is due on 26th of October.

- Record backing track using lead sheet provided bellow.(Blues in F)
- Feel free to use your own guitar voicings and comping.
- Tempo of your choice!
- Backing track should have drums and harmony at least!
- Record a chorus solo over backing track using only down beat based rhythm.
- If you finish assignment feel free to record another chorus of just up beat based rhythm.

Let me know if you have any questions!
