what is it...i here Satriani....talking about it all the time..on his lesson videos...but idk what it is!!!

A pedal note is a bass note that stays the same throughout a chord sequence. So called because they used to refer to organists holding one of the bass pedals down.

And in this one, the 12th fret of the g-string is the pedaled noted, see how this works yet?
