Might be considered a part of the "gear" since we all spend quite a lot of time sitting on it. Yet, its never discussed.
Depending on how comfortable or uncomfortable it is, it can really make or break your back and posture in the long run.

I use a regular computer chair. But planning to get a better one. What do you use? Any recommendations? Pictures?
What's the most comfortable chair/stool that you've used for extended timeframes?

I've never thought in the chair but I know that it's important... I remember that when I was a beginner I used to play more than 6 hours sitting on my bed...

Same here, I really liked playing sitting on my bed. Nowadays I sit on my regular computer chair with my right foot standing on a paper package

Yes, bed worked best for me in terms of practice, it's more comfy..

Regarding chair, I spend a lot of time in the chair as well, and not really an expert in chairs, but a better one is definitely needed. My back can hurt from time to time if I don't sit straight and all..

Doing some research on the ergonomics of chairs, and trying out several of them would be a good idea. I would advise that some budget is made for this, as chair can last a long time, and it's a long term health investment.

One thing about guitar chair: you need to be able to remove the arm rests (or at least the one that is on the side of your picking hand.

at the studio where I'm usually recording with my projects, I've always fancied a chair which I discovered lying around.

It has no handles, it's made out of 2 round padded leather (sponge filled) parts, it has a foot holder and the part on which your back leans onto can be arranged depending on how straight you want your spine to stay.

It's very good for the body - it only permits a correct posture and it's also comfy unfortunately, I can't find any image though

You can always use a desk chair with no handles or a little kitchen or even fishing stool the only thing you have to pay attention at is that you have to take care of your back.

I guess the only thing is for it to not have arms and be low enough to be comfy,

check out On Stage Stand's Adjustable Throne. They sell a seat (with a backrest) for around $60. I play in my office, so I needed to play on something that didn't have arms. Works pretty well actually

This is a great question. Ergonomics are critical to good health and good practice! I was very selective about my chair in my home studio as it needed to be comfy for extended playing/mixing/writing sessions. I'll look up the brand/cost and post it. It's been the best chair I've ever purchased. Good lumbar support, adjustable, leather, big enough to sit with your guitar.

I've tried regular "office/computer" chairs and most are just horrible.

I used to use a CPU chair also, until i purchased a drummers stool...It's made bigger/taller than a drummer would need it, so it's great for guita. 1 foot on the railing and 1 foot on the ground....

I also use a computer chair, without the "arms rest" things. I considered a drummer stool once, but I need to rest my back against a chair to feel comfortable.

I tried a lot of chairs, but this gives me the best posture, and most arm freedom.
Plus when I'm rocking out I can start bouncing and mosh around on my ass

Although, if I roll backwards 'somehow' .. i'd have to save the guitar from taking the hit

Just keep your back straight and take the hit like a man. Bonus points if you keep shredding through the whole fall

I use a computer chair - though I would feel more comfortable getting a armless guitar chair.
I also used my amp (as seen in lessons) as a chair though that doesn't give me a comfortable position to play at all

Yeah I used to be a 'sit on the edge of the bed guy' too.. in fact, I'm sure we all did that !

But after a while, you gotta be careful of hunching your back over into your guitar.. now it's just a regular computer/office chair..

However, as many of you know.. I don't practice sitting down at all anymore
