Hi everyone!
I'm studying THIS lesson right now and while, with some practice, I can nearly play every passage, I'm having some problem with the sweeping Em arpeggio.

Really don't know how to approach it, because strings keep vibrating when I release them, and the sound is very noisy.
Any suggestions? Thank you very much.

Hi my friend. I remember having the same problems with sweeping when I first started doing it too. There's 2 things going on.. first, your fretting hand needs to get used to the shape so it frets the notes and pulls off the string more efficiently and the other thing is that the picking hand has a role to play with muting the strings.

In that lesson, Muris plays the arpeggio very cleanly with no muting (as it sounds to me) but I suggest that you use the underside of your picking hand to rest on the strings so they're slightly muted. This will reduce the string noise because when you release your finger from a string, your picking hand will stop the string from ringing. Eventually, when you get better at the technique, you'll be able to play sweep arpeggios with less muting but for now, this is a good thing to learn. Also, your fretting hand will be getting better all the time at doing it as well

this is a perfect part to practice that minor arpeggio. Make sure you don't raise your fingers too much when releasing them. I had a private lesson yesterday and he had the same problem

Wonderful ! A small suggestion, switch off delay while you practice perfectly! Delay is sometimes confusing and you need a true sound picture at this stage!

It's a tricky lesson try to practice it very slow and make every move right if it doesn't work you can try to put hair tight on your neck like Greg Howe but it's better to get it the right way!

Great mate! As Sinisa suggested, first try to get everything you learn in perfect shape by using a clean tone - it is better, because you get to hear all the notes and you will be forced to play as clean as possible. You will also be able to hear all your mistakes, so, this idea can lead to perfect playing. Then move on to a distorted sound (if necessary) you will face the idea of controlling the sound a little bit more! Keep it up mate!

I tried with a clean sound but, when comes the pinky hammer on I can't hear any sound... Maybe I need to make my pinky stronger, but it's very far on the neck and I have to stretch my hand very much. The conequence is that I can't put much power on the pinky...
Anyways, I'll keep on trying.

I've always studied guitar by myself and no one ever heard my progress and correct my mistake... It's amazing to have highly skilled people like you who take their precious time to listen a beginner!

Sounds really good my friend.. as Cosmin was saying, less effects and distortion will help you notice any sloppy technique. I also think that using distortion to practice with is ok too though, as long as it isn't overkill

In your example, the ascending part is smoother than the descending part. I hear some hesitation when you're coming back down from the E string to the B string.. if you could make that part more even and the same timing as the rest of it you'll be there ! Very good
