Thanks Alex. Hope this isn't too overwhelming.
GoalsI'd love to be able to compose my own songs that i can share with others. I find i have a lot of idea's in my head but i just can't get them out of there.
I'd like to improve to a standard where i am able to record myself in one take/play for a crowd confidently, without mistakes. I find when i record now i NEED to break things up as i just can't play a full piece without making mistakes.
When i listen to players like Andy Timmons he has such great feeling and emotion in his playing, i'd like build some into my playing.
I'd also love to learn some acoustic stuff on the side as i love the sound of an acoustic guitar.
WeaknessesI find that i dabble in a lot things rather than really concentrating on one thing at a time.
Rhythm playing is something I've really overlooked.
Muting i find difficult and don't consciously think about when playing.
I spend far more time listening to music than practicing!
Music theory i know very little about.
Overall i think my playing is pretty raw.
StrengthsI'm comfortable alternate picking as long as the speed isn't excessively fast.
I'm passionate about music and want to improve.
I love a lot of guitar-based music, bands i find myself listening to a lot lately are Stereophonics, the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Feeder, Mr. Big and Danger Danger. I also find myself listening to jazz radio stations from time to time.
My favourite guitarists are Paul Gilbert, Andy Timmons, Dave Mcpherson and John Frusciante.
