Let's join forces on this one, because as I promised - the Pirate collab is here!

Bottom line? We all get to dress up as pirates by using patch eyes, hats, fake teeth, wooden legs, hook hands, maybe a parrot? And jam together on this piratey backing track!

Here are the details:

Time signature: 4/4

Chord progressions: C5 G5 F5 C5 x 2 G5 Bb5 Eb5 G5 Ab5 F5 D5 G5

Scales you can use: C Aeolian, G Phrygian, Ab Lydian, Bb Mixolyian, F Dorian

Material format:

- 1 track containing the solo only (.mp3 or .wav)
- 1 track containing both solo and backing track
- the video in .mp4 format would be ideal

Interesting fact, my ancestors on me fathers side contains a famous pirate... Bartholomew Roberts, or better known as Black Bart.

It's been told to me that aside from being a pirate, he was also a great romantic gentleman as he landed me great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great,... whew... great, great, great grandmother by using this simple pickup line.......

I don't really know if that's a true story or not.... just telling it like I heard it.

Todd - if I am not mistaken has an interesting family history!

So I've heard, but so far I've yet to see any proof of it... Genetically speaking, I've seen noone in the family with any wooden legs that I'm aware of... Although there has been a parrot or two.... oh and and at least one eye patch that I can recall.

BORDER REIVERS UNITE!! My family name (along Bart, Homer, and O.J) SIMPSON is one of original "Border Reiver" Clan names. So a fine legacy of Horse Thieving and generally being scoundrels. But as my Grandfather used to day "Be proud of anything you can't change, you might as well!!"

Gonna give it a try... The due date on this will be about in the middle of the time my son will be born, should be bringing him home that week!

Listen to these tunes and observe the phrasing - for instance, you can phrase in triplets and you will obtain that traditional phrasing style which is so much encountered in this sort of music Give it a try!

Should I stick with one scale or is it ok to do what I do in this soundclip?

Hmmm there are some notes that don't sound too good here and there - you should try to alternate things with the minor scale so that it would bring things home What do you think?

I think you might be right.
I just wanted to use the scales C Aeolian + G Phrygian (and later Ab Lydian, Bb Mixolyian, F Dorian).
But now I will just compose the next part without thinking too much about scales, which often gives me OK results.

Best idea mate I did the same and modified here and there, when I wanted a particular flavor of a mode to come out
