So are you wanting to start playing local gigs? The way that usually goes is you contact some venue owners and see if they want to book your band. You can send them your demo or bring it by. In many cases, venues will expect you to sell a certain number of tickets or by them yourself which is tough.
Turning it in to something that makes money and doesn't cost money is a long and winding road that usually takes several years. So the first suggestions I'd make is "Don't quit your day job" as they say
or in this case, go find a day job so that you can pay rent and bills while trying to get rolling.
Some artists like KEITH MERROW used the Youtube approach which also takes several years to turn in to a profession. There are not shortcuts sadly, that I'm aware of. But start sharing your music everywhere, give it away for free to anyone who will take it, play every gig you can, make wads of youtube vids and try to create a following.
That should get you started
