Original lesson: BB King Style 8 Bar Blues by Ivan Milenkovic

Cosmin Lupu
Hey mate!

This take is quite nice and technically speaking, the only thing I'd say that needs a bit of attention would be the bending and vibrato technique. They could be stronger and more rounded, but otherwise, the whole ensemble needs more playing so to say, in order to become more natural sounding. Blues, is something that is built on groove, feeling and soulfulness, so in order to achieve these, you should try and perform alongside the original recording, trying to emulate it as much as possible.

Keep rocking!

You've got the basics to this lesson sorted. It just needs some more precision with the bending. They sound a bit awkward as they are. The thing about the blues, and BB's style.. is that a lot of the bends are snapped up real quick and chopped off.

When you don't have the level of confidence in your bending yet it can be hard to attain that sound as each bend is pushed up warily until the pitch is found. We need to get that 'snap' to it. But you will get it with time, it's only practise.

Vibrato is a very personal thing. There's nothing wrong with yours.. it doesn't have the speed and zing of the BB style but that's ok because it doesn't have to sound like him. That's what personalty and guitar is all about. So I don't have an issue with that.. if you can spend some time with bending that'll help sort you out. When the finger strength and pitch accuracy are increased then you can play those quick bends a lot easier.

Hi friend!

This is a good take. You can play all the licks at tempo and with precision. However, there is something very important lacking, and even more considering that this is a BB king style lesson. You have to improve the feeling of this take, you need to make your vibrato technique stronger, and more consistent, your bending more precise (sometime you don't reach the correct pitch) and improve the dynamics of your take.

This means that you should continue practicing this lesson but putting all your effort on improving those three things that will make your take sound more connected to blues style. A good method to work on these feeling and expression techniques is playing the lesson over the original take, trying to emulate the instructor's vibrato, bending's pitches and dynamics. So please try it.

Keep on the good job! wink.gif
