Going to watch video now, the thing is to use the tap 2 find I need to have idea of the drums to search for possible mixtures that match the music, will play a little with it
@Gabriel: I use GarageBand
@Cosmin: Thanks Cosmin, going to play a little with drums in EZDrummer, even if working with drummer comes something different I can at least exercise a little with it
Well, as everything related to making music, this needs some practice. Cosmin's idea is the best way to go in order to become better at drum programming. Most of my knowledge about composition and arranging is based on analyzing and transcribing my favorite songs, and even not my favorites but those that I find interesting.
Programming the drum track of some songs with midi will make you understand the way drums are arrangements, it will add ideas to your "drum grooves and fill library". You could even save your favorite grooves and fills to use them as starting points in your own compositions.
Besides Cosmin's steps, I would like also to add that it's a good plan to see how drums relates with other instruments of the song. See how it relates to bass, guitar and also with vocals. Check when it follows those instruments and when it not, and how...
Write down your ideas on a notepad, compare songs and take your own conclusions.
