whenever I try to compose a solo they generally end up sounding too bluesy. Does anyone have any suggestions to make my solos sound more like rock either in minor pentatonic or any other scale thanks

Play faster?! No just kidding, I've got the same problem

Use different scales maybe? What scales do you use?
botoxfox
Yeah, just use major or natural minor scales to get rid of the "blues sound"

A really good question!

Try to use another scale. For example, the dorian (or aeolian) scale has a minor feel without the flat five (blue note).

what about incorporating different techniques? like some tapping licks or some arpeggios.
botoxfox
Three note per string pentatonic licks might help too.

Yeah,try new scales,like Mixolydian etc.
And listen to various players,to extend your vocabulary smile.gif

Dorian and mixolydian indeed!
Using lots of "one-note-per-string" stuff can make it sound pretty kewl, and not bluesy at all.

Hey, why dont you try Wallimans metal head lesson?
