Hey muris,

I was wondering what would be the first two most important scales/modes to learn inside and out on the guitar. I'm already pretty versatile with major and minor pentatonics so for a while I've been practicing the Ionian mode's boxes up down the neck. I've kinda hit a brick wall though, I really dont know what scale is the best for me to start getting really comfortable with.

Besides pentatonics, whats the most important scale I should work on?

Good question ,major and minor only might be boring for sure!! smile.gif

Ok,first one is probably Blues Scale.
It's same as minor pentatonic with one 'Blue" note between 4th and 5th degree.
If we're in Am it's note D#.
Then cool mode is Dorian, same as minor only with #6 degree.
If we are again in Am it'd be note F#,note F like in natural minor.
From major family of modes easy one if surely Mixolydian, after Ionian of curse. smile.gif
Play major scale with flat 7th degree and there you go!!
