Full Version: 9 And 11 Adds Question!

Hi

When you are building a chord, you take the notes from the Major scale right? But since there are only 7 notes in the scale, where does the 9 and 11´s come from when you make a chord like dmaj7add11?

You start again at 8 an octave higher, so 9 is like a 2nd, 11 is like a 4th ...
