I saw Zombie and Ozzy last night at the Garden...heres a few of my thoughts.

There was an opener with a female vocalist "In This Moment" - they were pretty painful. The chick seemed to be mildly attractive from what I could see from my seat. It was funny to watch her head bang with her hair up and in a female Santa costume, they were kinda difficult to take seriously.

Rob Zombie: His guitarists is John 5 formerly of Marilyn Manson and you'd NEVER know it. John 5 RIPS on guitar, unbelievable skill. His sound and playing were both impeccable. Rob Zombie missed some vocal ques here and there but overall it was great! They closed their set with Thunderkiss 65' which was INSANE, Rob is a true show man. He got the entire crowd (including the old fart Ozzy fans from the 80s) into it. He had 2 hot chick pole dancers in cages, a GIGANTIC robot it was cool as hell! After he was done my neck hurt so bad from head banging I could hardly keep it up =)

Ozzy: My over all impression of Ozzy is what we all already know, he's bloody old as hell. He's still the man though, he did his best. Often his voice was cracking and he'd miss a line or two here and there. I dunno who they had running the sound or if they bypassed a sound check because Zakk Wylde's sound was horrid. During a guitar solo his guitar COMPLETELY cut out, his sound was totally muddy and muted with all the other instruments. There was no clarity or shape whatsoever, I was extremely disappointed. He had a 15 minute guitar solo which was cool, but he played the US National Anthem which John 5 had already taken the liberty to do (and Jimi invented). Ozzy was cool as hell though, he was throwing buckets of water on the crowd and he had a massive foam gun, they closed with paranoid and it was awesome.

Zakk seems to of gotten rid of Les Paul in change for something that looks like Dimebags ML with a Bullseye logo, hopefully next time I see him he sound checks....80 USD for a concert have the decency for the musicians in the show to give it your all!

I saw them in Montreal and it seems like we had the same experience.

The opening act In This Moment was pretty bad. The sound was not clear, all the instruments blurred together into a big mess and the vocals could not be heard. Best part about this performance was the vocalist who was nice to look at in her Alice in Wonderland costume.

So then Rob Zombie came on... and lemme tell you, he blew me away. The drummer was sitting on top of a giant monster head and would do hand gesture between beats to enhance the show. There was giant screens on stage which played scenes from old films or, in the case of Superbeast, showed intense flames to enhance the songs atmosphere. His dancers were fantastic, not only were they beautiful but their campy/cheesy style of dancing was very entertaining. Rob filled even the furthest rows with energy as he walked amongst the fans.

One interesting note, John 5's grey Telecaster came off the strap and smashed into the ground. This did not phase him and he did his best to keep playing like a pro.

Ozzy was what everybody was waiting for, but I gotta admit that his show was disappointing. Sure he was full of energy and it was nice getting sprayed with foam, but he missed a lot of his lines and seemed lost at times. This was very evident during suicide solution where he dragged the song out of tempo, making it sound awkward.

Zakk Wylde's sound was also lacking. There was no power to it and it was nearly impossible to hear what he was playing. His technical skill was there during songs like Mr. Crowley and Crazy Train, but on some of Ozzy's heavier stuff, the lack of guitar presence really made some of the songs sound lifeless.

anyway, all in all it was a great show
Rob put on a show I will remember for the rest of my life and it definitely worth it seeing Ozzy performs his legendary songs

Those aren't good news.. I'm very excited because there are some rumors that Ozzy, Black Label Society and Korn would do a show here in March... I hope that they do a good show here.

I saw them in Toronto January 21st, my thoughts were basically the same as mentioned above. Zakk Wylde's sound was totally muddy, in his big solo I barely heard any of it unfortunately. Ozzy actually had tons of energy and put on a great show though.

Overall, Rob Zombie's sound was better and you could hear the songs much clearer.

My little brother went to go see this same show in a different state. Can't remember where at the moment. He's a HUGE Ozzy fan and a very very good guitarist. When I talk to him next, I will have to ask him how it was....

John 5 is amazing. Ever since he started doing his solo stuff ive been hooked.
