A Hard Rock study in the style of Andy Timmons of the band Danger Danger.
Hello everyone! I am happy to present my new lesson here. The idea is to continue learning the different modern styles of the electric guitar.
This one is based on the Andy Timmons style (one of my favorites).Today, we will study another lesson of Hard rock a little different to the previous lessons. Presently, He works with his soloist material, which incorporates different instrumental modern styles. In 1989 as a guitarist, He became a member of the band Danger Danger that played Hard rock, subsequently, He switched to All Pitrelli.
I recommend you to listen to “The Return of the Great Gildersleeves”, this is an album in which you can listen to songs similar to this lesson.
In this lesson, I use a sound with a good gain (1959 Marshall preamp simulator at the second setting, a very low bass) and a gain with heightened mediums, Orange compressor, a lot of delay Pan and reverb plate to achieve a sound with important sustain, such as this guitarist.
Dropped D tuning
1: E 4:D
2: B 5:A
3: G 6:D
Chords
Riff in D
Dm – Bb—C
Techniques
Legato
Palm muting
Alternate picking
Bending
Slide
Sweep picking
Scales
D minor scale + blue note
Let’s keep in mind that the minor scale and the minor pentatonic share certain notes.
In conclusion, the fact that we do not play certain notes of the minor scale, allows us to achieve the bluesy, rocker sound, just because we are using the pentatonic scale.
Now to work friends.
