  • Hi GMC'ers! This lesson is about using vibrato and phrasing while soloing in the blues. The chord progression is a typical 12 bar blues in Eb. The vibrato and phrasing is based on Stevie Ray Vaughan's style.

    Some tips while playing a blues progression: try to be just a bit behind the metronome to achieve a really mean bluesy feel. Also use the so called micro bending whenever you can. It can be achieved by hitting a note, and just before you release it, bend it just a little bit. Mind your vibrato and make it even as much as you can.

    Techniques:
    * Hammer-on
    * Pull-off
    * Bluesy Vibrato
    * Bluesy Phrasing
    * Strong Picking

    Equipment:
    * Fender Stratocaster
    * Guitar Rig 4

    Tuning:
    * Standard Eb
    * Eb - Ab -Db - Gb - Bb - Eb
    (From thick to thin string)
