myhandyman12th April 2013I enjoy this hybrid (banjo roll) picking technique I'm sorry to see this instructor is gone, what happened, I hope is is in okay!..I know I must practice more too on all my bookmarks. I found out today my bredit card company explained someone stole my credit card account number.. a lot of fraud with the plastic bank/government money..leads me to believe my government is growing corrupt and so it is now with this so called DOJ and homestink security bs.. I had to stop recurring membership here until I get this fraudulent case behind.. take care everybody keep on rocking in the free world!
Cosmin Lupu13th April 2013Hey myhandyman, hope you fix that card and get back to us soon ![]()

Hi GMC'ers! Ready for some hot country licks? OK, tune your guitar and let's learn some cool licks!
All the licks are in the key of A. Using the combination of notes from three different scales: A major, A minor pentatonic scale (with the blue note) and the A mixolydian mode.
It's very common to see licks using a mix of these three scales in country music.
Most of the time, we'll use the chicken picking technique with our right hand. I'm using the pick, the middle and ring finger throughout. It's an essential technique to achieve the "country tone" by "popping" some notes and get that typical percussive and short sound.
Use the bridge pickup to get that classic country twang tone. I also used a compression pedal/plug-in with lot of compression cause we want a highly "squished" sound. Third, add a some reverb and an important things is to use a slap-back delay (100ms to 300ms with a single repeat).
Scales:
* A Major Pentatonic
* A Blues Minor Pentatonic
* A Mixolydian
