Hello GMC! Welcome to my lesson in the style of the band HIM. This Finish band has different influences that come from the heavy metal, gothic and 80’s pop (Depeche Mode, The Cure, etc). They lyrics are very “romantic” oriented and that why they call their style as “Love Metal”.
In this lesson I tried to recreate their style using their most common chord progressions, structure and also their way to arrange the guitars in as song.
This lesson is very useful for beginner player that want to play metal but also to intermediate or advanced player that wants to add more ideas for guitar arranging and composition.
We will cover topics like:
-Power Chords
-Harmonization in thirds
-Chord Progressions
-Palm Muting
-Vibrato
-Arpeggios
Chord Progression & Structure:
Intro with Keyboard, Clarinet and Strings: Am – F – C – G – Dm – F – C – G
Verse: ( Am – Em – Am – Em – Am – G – F – C G ) x 2
Pre-chorus: F – Em – G – Am G – F – Em – G – G
Chorus: ( Am – F – C – G – Dm – F – C – G ) x 2
The song is in A minor key and the tempo is 120 bpm.
