Hi GMC-ers!
I'm currently in the studio with Wisdom, and we're recording the solos. There is a particular song named "Heaven and Hell", and the rhythm of the solo reminded me much of Early Europe and I've decided to honor Kee Marcello by doing a solo somewhat in his melodic style, but with a modern approach and with my feelings.
The beginning of the solo is a simple melody, but creating a melody can be tricky. You have to play it over and over again in order to make it feel right.
The next part is a more modern approach to building melodic solos. I used the third mode of the Hirayoshi scale, the Hon-Kumoi-Yoshi scale, built up an arpeggio around it, to make the solo sound more interesting, and to give it a colorful depth. If you're not familiar with the Hirayoshi scale, check out my "Modal Madness: The Hirayoshi Scale" lesson.
The following part incluedes some "Staccato-ala-Modal-Madness-Series". If you've practiced it, you won't have problems with this lick.
Have Fun!
-Zsolt
