Hello friends! It’s time for some New Metal stuff at GMC! Today I’ll cover Linkin Park’s first single from their debut album called “Hybrid Theory”.
Linkin Park is an American band from Agoura hills, California formed in 1996.  They combine successfully new metal, alternative metal and rap rock with influences and elements from alternative rock, hip hop and electronica.
“One Step Closer” resumes Linkin Park first two albums style. It is a powerfull new metal hit with killer dropped D riffs and a fantastic and memorable chorus.  The song is in D minor key and the melodies have been composed with D minor Aeolian scale.
Technically the guitar work is - as in the best new metal bands - simple but effective.  In this song the particularly use some interesting natural harmonics in the main riff.

It has a classic radio hit structure:
Intro
Verse
Bridge
Chorus
Verse 2
Bridge 2
Chorus 2
Intro Riff
Bridge 3 (Part C)
Chorus 3

I covered the whole song in the main video excepting the last chorus which is the same as  the chorus 2.

Tuning: Dropped Db
Db – Ab – Db – Gb – Bb - Eb

Ok guys! Let’s learn the song!
