Kristofer Dahl23rd September 2009Beautiful David! I really liked the bonus singing part of the main video as well.
What you say in the spoken video is very true - I am sure that this specific tune has been a springboard for many people to start "painting the chords" just like Jimi did.
The approach is fairly simple in theory: Play a "standard" chord progression, and add scalar embellishments.

Will give you a good understanding on how to play this classic Hendrix song! Also you will learn how to "paint the chords" like Jimi did.
Little Wing has been an all time favorite guitar songs for most of us. Its simple chord progression offers tons of possibilities and we'll explore some ideas to help you master this classic Hendrix song. Before you get started, make sure you guitar is tuned a half step below. This will help you achieve better bends and sound like the master.
We'll work over three section for this song. All sections work over the same following chord progression:
Em-G-Am-Em
Bm-Am/C-G/F-C/D
Here is the structure of the lesson:
Intro
Verse 1
BVerse 2
Solo
As you will find out when working on this lesson, I decided to give you suggestions on the verse part. In order to play this the right way, you need to add quite a bit of improvised lines in there that would fit the chords used. It's kind of like painting the chords. Jimmy was the best at that...
Take these as ideas and develop them over the provided backing track.
Have fun!
