Hey GMC'ers! This time I´ve prepared a lesson based on a song from my future solo album, as I did in a previous exercise called "Petrucci Melody Build Up".
The solo starts with the B Minor Harmonic scale, with the 2nd string open, a resource used by many shredders like Petrucci, Satriani, and Timmons. Later there's a tapping section, created mainly in the E Minor Pentatonic scale, using passing notes as Flat 5 of the same scale. The idea is to visualize this Pentatonic in different ways.
Tuning:
* One Step Down
* D - G - C - F - A - D
(From thick to thin string)
Key:
G Major
Chord Progression:
B - G5 - E5
Techniques:
* Bends
* Legato
* Tapping
* Sweep Picking
* Let Notes Ring
Scales:
* B Minor Harmonic
* E Dorian
* G Lydian
Remember it's not just for blues! You can adapt it to a great deal of styles and still make it sound great!
