Hi GMC - today we’ll be inspired by Carlitos Santana - a great “Latin rock” guitar player!
Nowadays Santana plays with artists from many different musical genres. I think that’s a good thing, but if you’re not really into diversity of styles, I strongly recommend you to listen to Carlito’s 70s work, mainly the record Abraxas, in which he plays like a God! Even if you’re used to listen to bands like Dream Theater, this record is going to blow your mind...
I’ve composed this lesson inspired by one of my favorite songs, Europa. This track is in the B minor scale. It’s not complex, but you must pay attention to the sound. There is where the real difficulty lies in… achieving Carlos’s tone.
Pay attention to the legatos, bends and slides. Feel every note like it was the last!!
Enjoy!
