Hey GMC'ers! One of my all time favorite Joe Satriani CD's is "Surfing With The Alien". This album defines Satch's riffing style for the following rock era and was also, a great inspiration for upcoming guitar heroes.
What he does here is combine blues patterns and techniques, and takes it to a brand new level for rock guitarists. Notice the the typical blues pattern at the first 3 bars as an example. The following parts are modulations typical to rock, and the end is also a common rock riff.
Techniques:
* Vintage Rock Riffing - Satriani Style
* Sliding
* Bending
* Strumming
Tuning:
* Standard D
* D - G - C - F - A - D
(From thick to thin string)
If you have any questions:

Have fun!/ Zsolt
