Nice information in the videos ![]()
Fingerspasm20th December 2009Great lesson. I am also interested in other screaming techniques like the ones used by bands like All that Remains. Killswitch Engage etc. People think that its just screaming at the top of your lungs but there is technique involved in creating the high and low pitches. I would like to see how others do this. Once again great lesson.

Hi GMC and welcome to my new singing lesson!
Today I’ll talk about screaming. There are different types of screaming. One of them is the VOCAL FRY.
There is some argument among instructor as to whether or not this is an actual register.
It can be used to add a raspy sound to other register. It doesn’t matter if you are singing a ballad or a rock song, you can use it for adding different intentions. If you are singing a ballad maybe you can add more sensual thing to the song but if you are singing a rock song you are adding more power or intention of force to the song.
Vocal fry is more of a style thing. By putting less amount of air on the cords than is needed for a clear tone of the pitch you are going for the tone breaks up and becomes a rasp. Here are two different examples of how can you use it.
You can find the guitar tabs of these backing tracks in the guitar pro and the complete tabs secion.
Backing 1: Dm - F - C - G - Dm - F - C (D minor Key)
Backing 2: Riff in D5
