kaznie_NL25th March 2009Hey Piotr, so to bug you, but I do have som critis, hope you can use it. I'm not going to learn songwriting by you giving an example of your songs. I think it'd be better with these subjects to make it into a kindof 101 lesson, Like Ivan's Songwriting lesson, that one really says how to, your lesson only gives an example. I think your composition is great, but I don't see how I'm going to learn how to write a song with this. I hope you can do something with this!
Lian Gerbino25th March 2009very nice composition ![]()

Alexiaden935th June 2009Oh my God ! Your first vibrato especially sounded like Mark Knopfler's "What it is"... Amazing lesson ! I love your melodies, that always use very smooth effects like volume control and vibrato to make it very calming ! ![]()

Hello GMC!
Welcome to my new lesson! This time we will talk about writing a song! There are many awesome lessons about it on GMC, so too long lecture on this subject is unnecessary:)
The main riff is based on 4ds and 3rds intervals and simple chords with 3rd in bass. With a little swingy groove this combination makes pretty cool climate.
Solo part is built mainly on the major pentatonic scale.
Phrasing reminds me of Mark Knopfler style which I love.
We're going to use:
- vibrato,
- bending,
- hybrid picking,
- volume knob
This is the preset I used for the POD XT live for this lesson:
Amp: 1973 Hiway 100, Drive 9 - Bass 6 - Middle 6 - Treble 4 - Presence 7
Cab: 4x12 1967 Green 20s
Dly: Analog delay, Delay Time - 115 (quarter note) - Mix 26%
Rev: Medium Hall - Mix 50%
Stomp: Blue Comp (solo part)
The lesson is available in the guitar pro 5 file, mp3 backing tracks included.
Have fun!
Piotr
