Okay so im wondering how you'd play these chords. Would you palm mute the d string and strum or do you just pick g and a at the same time.......?
Sean Conklin5th June 2007Hey guys! Glad you like the lesson! What can I say, I'm a metalhead.
stratman33, when playing octave chords, it's best if you can mute all of the strings with your fret-hand index finger. So basically your index will put pressure on the A string note in this case, but the tip of your index should mute the Low E string, and your index should also rest on all the other strings to mute them. That way you can strum all the strings, but only those 2 octave notes will sound.
Hope that helps!
Sean
Marcus Lavendell6th June 2007wow! really impressive Sean!

Guitarman7004th July 2007Sweet holy moses on a flaming pogo stick that is awesome!
MattE17th July 2007ok for some reason I'm still having problems with the octave chords.
Do you use your middle finger to mute the string inbetween? If so, how so? I always seem to get some kind of a ringing note when I try to play :[
ibanezkiller1st August 2007Please make more this what ive been searching for!
Victafor13th August 2007soo cool! make another lesson man these rock
jammer9120th September 2007Yeah, this lessons owns, just what i was looking for, but is short....
Nick_GibsonLP4th January 2008Great song, and great lesson. Only problem is on the backing track the track starts as soon as you click, its really hard to try and click on the backing to start it then hurry up and play the 777-888 in time to keep up with the song. If you could add a pause or a countdown in the beginning of the backing tracks it would really help.
Carlos Carrillo26th February 2008hey sean!!!So coool....So coool....Excellent...
