Kristofer Dahl21st August 2008Oh my! David, this stuff touches my soul - not only that but this kind of Hendrixy chordal technique is really useful so everyone should have a go at it!
Also - I love the tone of the faster picking run - to me that kind of tone could only come from a wider picking motion (and great left & right hand synchronization of course).

There is nothing like a melodic sweet soul song to really develop strong melodic ideas. Today we'll take a look an an improvisation in A Major. We'll try to use both rhythm and lead ideas to create something hopefully tasteful and pleasing to the ear.
Here is the chord progression we'll play over:
A F#m D A
A C#m D E
A C#m C# F#m
D E A E
The whole song can be played in A Major with the exception of the C# Major chord. Use your ears to avoid the wrong notes on that chord.
