Welcome to my 3rd Alternate picking lesson. This time we'll pay more attention to your pinky so if you think you need some excercise for your pinky - this is the right place for you. We'll also practice something a lot of guitarplayers don't - and that is - single string runs. These excercises are vital for your right hand picking! Enjoy it!

I just now noticed that your pickup switch is set at neck or neck and middle. What are you using ,?humbucker and pickup wise? And do you prefer that over bridge?

I use bridge humbucker for riffing and slow parts of solos, also for parts when i want my guitar to scream. When it comes to shred and even sweeping sometimes, i switch to neck humbucker - it gives me smoother sound for fast runs. Tapping is best with bridge pickup.

I'm confused.
Your video-texts say count in groups of three, but in GP wrote in groups of 4 notes per beat (sixteenth).

Yes because there is no way i can write 16th notes in GP to make it in groups of 3. GP won't let me do it! I said to think of it in groups of 3 to understand sequences and how to build your own licks and sequences.

I think you can do this under the note menu with the "break beams" and "force beams" option, if I understand what you are trying to do ...

Yeah i found it - thanks for the tip!

But anyway you just have to visualize groups of 3 instead of 4 notes and that's the whole problem! Because when you meet real notes in life nobody will write them with breaking beams so you should get used to it as fast as possible! (not you Andrew, i am just talking in general hehe)

Yes, great advice in general - don't get hung up on exactly what the little dots say, they aren't the music, they are just an attempt to tie it down for long enough that someone else can understand it. The music is what you hear, feel and play!
