Hello GMC! :) I started another lesson serial and I called it "Fusion Jam". This part is on advanced level, some tricky chops inside. ;)

Inspired by great fusion players like Greg Howe, Guthrie Govan, Bret Garsed etc I tried to combine many techniques, timings, odd grouping, smooth phrasing and on and on...

It's in key of B minor and I used mostly B Dorian mode, plus B Blues scale and some "out" notes, as you'll see. At the end of the piece it modulates into Cm key, so pay attention on that moment.

Tempo is 120bpm, there are many slow backing as well, have fun and let me know if you need any help! :)

Muris Varajic

P.S. Use of dumpener might come useful here.

I have this vision of you taking on the guitar greats of the world one by one, and ticking them off in your GMC lessons - they should all come and try to post video responses!

Muris, You're playing has inspired me.
On frame 5 two handed tapping, you don't seem to need to mute behind the notes. But I get all that ringing from the other side of the string.
Are you hanging something over the guitar to dampen the strings?
Thanks for the awesome lessons!

ScoJoh,yes,I'm using my homemade dumpener to prevent some strings from ringing.
Actually I can play most of those lick clean without it
but it's there just in case to be 100% sure and make things easier and more
comfortable to play.
If you wanna make something similar,HERE it is. wink.gif

Muris, this dumpner as you call it, is this type of thing used by other players or did you come up with it? If you could find a way to do this and still play the open strings you would rich.
Muris Varajic
post 6th February 2008

Instructor

Dumpener is quite well known thing in certain circles of players. smile.gif

No,I didn't invent it as a tool but I made one by myself on quite specific formula.
Check out my gear sub board, there's a thread about it.

In a meanwhile you can have one by using hairgum.
When you want to play open strings you just move it behind the nut,
simple as that. smile.gif

I recorded the backing tracks off so I could practice with them. The first one I called "slow," the second one is "faster" 100 is "about right for me, anyway" and 110 is "too fast" and 120 is called "MURIS." My fingers feel horribly insufficient when they watch you play.
