I love that sound!
Scott Gentzen7th May 2007Exactly the kind of things I've been working on. Fantastic. Thanks
Pavel7th May 2007This lesson may sound simple but when you try to speed it up than you'll realize the problem of it!! Got some nasty string skipping stuff going on!
Thanks for comments!
Gustavo7th May 2007awsome
i think its very difficult
The Uncreator7th May 2007Great Lesson as always, i havent practiced String Skipping since youre last lesson it, so this a good refresher course!
Boris7th May 2007Great lesson, i'm gunna start on this one right after i come back from college.

This reminds me a bit of the John Petrucci Rock Discipline DVD's first exercises with the hand stretches, well, great lesson as usual, keep it up!
GuitarDude7th May 2007just wow!
me2138th May 2007hi pavel great lesson!
erm these may be a stupid questions but here we go,
What scale is this in?, and
How did you make it up?
THANKS
Pavel8th May 2007Thanks all! I am really glad you liked it!
@me213: This lesson is a result of NOT THINKING IN SCALES - i came up with this simply playing string skips to make a nice melody out of it! It starts in B-Major!
pasiu8th May 2007Dude keep the lessons coming. You've taught me in weeks what it would have taken me years to learn on my own.
Smikey20068th May 2007haha yay i love these lessions there helpin my playen a bundle keep er comin master pavel
The name's Pavel,....Mr. Pavel......dude im really liking the sound here man.oh and by the way yes i can live with having a 19 yr old dad who plays guitar all day and lives with his parents,it might be a little wierd because im 21 but well get past that!!!!!!!ha ha ha ha ha
Engellos8th May 2007Awesome!
andrei.sz8th May 2007great lesson, and what's better is that this pice is real music.

erik8th May 2007Great stuff, Pavel!
Andrew Cockburn9th May 2007The thing I like best about this lesson is its impossible to play unless your posture and left hand positioning is spot on ![]()
Anirudh9th May 2007Wow, cool lesson and definately ill learn it, its awesome!
shredmandan9th May 2007Pavel your a very talented dude.Trying to string skip like that and keep it sounding clean and smooth takes alot of work. Thanks for another awesome lesson and i hope you put out another one real soon.

Pavel17th May 2007Thanks - you're welcome guys!
I'll try to make more of this kind of lessons!
Asphyxia Feeling21st May 2007I'm having the same problem Aaron is having.. when i do the hammer on pull off section according to the tab it sounds like i'm a note short of how it should sound... is there an extra pull off in there somewhere?
Pavel21st May 2007The tab is 100% correct! It means you play something wrong!
The hammer-on/pull-off section has different note lenghts so watch out for that!
stratman3321st May 2007frikken sweet lesson.when i get my ibanez, this will sound great.
Aaron23rd May 2007thanx for the help pavel i kinda got it rite now
Leviathan24th May 2007holy, way harder than first glance...
Edited for language by rokchik
Leviathan25th May 2007ok i barely know what linear runs are but i'm gonna do this lesson solely for the hand control
Pavel25th May 2007Linear runs are runs following the scale note by note. ![]()
kahall26th May 2007You know I was setting here taking a break letting my hand spaz out.... and I was reading Pavels intro at the top of the lesson, kind of in a daze but still reading it and started laughing at the line that goes.
"When you master this lesson you'll feel huge advance in your control of string switching but most important thing is to play it CLEAN. Ready? GO!!
Ready? GO!!! cracks me up everytime. If you have seen the movie Team America - World Police you will know what I mean. If you have not seen it, it is good for a chuckle or 50...Ready? GO!!!
kevin-riff-after-riff26th May 2007sounds very similar to that jerry c string skipping song
JOhn30th May 2007just a quick question when your playing the fast descending part each time you move down to the next three notes the you play it with a down pick so its like economic picking?
JOhn30th May 2007just a quick question when your playing the fast descending part each time you move down to the next three notes the you play it with a down pick so its like economic picking?
Pavel30th May 2007No - i play it 100% alternate picking!
mmihaa30th May 2007hi Pavel...grr...i love this lesson...but i don't get it...when i play hammer on i can't hear a sound..i just don't hear it...what is wrong?do i tap it to "lazy" or what?i just don't get it...
and pull offs...:S:S i suck:( but anyway...great lesson Pavel..i hope i'll learn it as soon as possible:D and then we rock! great work Pavel, as always;)
Pavel30th May 2007If you started to play legato recently than you have nothing to worry about. You have to develop strenght and controlled hit on strings! Just make legato your regular practice technique and you'll get it soon!
lliber3rd June 2007as always pavel great lesson and a goal to aim for
signularis6th June 2007darn i suck lol
SLASH917th June 2007I know it looks easy but gets hard later on
The Spartan8th June 2007Great lesson Pavel...this will definitely make me better at string skipping although I'm good at it but why not make it even better ![]()
signularis8th June 2007what is the best way to prawctise your pink
Pavel8th June 2007Play excercises that involve pinky!
mattacuk12th June 2007Pavel,
i thought i had this lesson till i got to the 12-19 fret stretch - its killing me! ive been trying all day but i just cant seem to stretch that last fret without my finger comeing off the 12 fret!
misterj15th June 2007your killing me, dude. this is so hard.
Ibanex18th June 2007You should have called it "hands control lesson", this exercice is hard for both hands (string-skipping).
Pavel18th June 2007Well - one "s" doesn't change a lot, right? It's a bout the lesson quality - not the name ![]()
fkalich20th June 2007Great job. Just about right, not too hard, not too easy, really nice sounding. Reminds me of the G&R tune.
Wyvernx3rd July 2007After I'm through with this one, I'm pretty sure my fingers are going to much longer! Nice lesson though sounds really good.

Your lessons are awesome Pavel, keep it up!
whammysam28th January 2008Yes, a nice melody. I've learned nearly a few by now. whilst I thought this at first to be one of the easiest.. It is actually proving one of the trickiest for me so far! It's a great lesson and incentive to play.. Thank you.
Carlos Carrillo21st February 2008Hey Pavel!!!

Sami23rd February 2008This has a nice paul gilbert feel to it:D
