Hi everyone! In this lesson, we will be examining a solo from a song of mine called “Haste”. This solo utilizes some cool legato, sweeping and tapping.

The backing chord progression is: D# A# F D

The primary scale being used is A Ionian, or A Major. There are a few instances when the flatted 6th is also played.

As you learn this, make sure you make your own variations of the techniques and ideas you see here. You’ll get so much more out of the guitar if you learn and then expand on what you learned.

Most of all, have fun!

That sounds like a really great song, an mp3 of you playing the full version would be really neat.It sounds like something from a fantasy game.

MisterJ, it's a Petrucci OLP guitar. Awesome guitar! Especially for the cheap price.

XxLeviathanxX, bummer dude! haha are you okay? I should have put a little disclaimer at the bottom saying I'm not responsible for any physical damage that might result when learning this solo. wink.gif I've gotten stabbed plenty of times. Not fun!
