great lesson yet again! this is just what i needed.

on a side note thanks for starting to include the extended versions of the backing tracks, its really helpful and fun to play the solo once though then improvise around after it.

he has a few solo albums....im sure you have checked them out....if you havent i suggest you do!!!

john's solo stuff is really somethign sweet. anyone who likes this solo a lot im sure would really enjoy and benefit from his solo albums, good music. He has four that i know of: curtains, shadows collide with people, the will to death, and to record on only water for ten days. To record on only water for ten days is in my opinion his best one, if youve heard any of his stuff odds are theyre his more well known stuff and from that album but theyre all great, check em out!

Yeah, I have water, inside of emptiness (you missed that one!) and shadows collide with people. Pretty good. John is actually a very good singer, perhaps better than kiedis, but kiedis's style works much better for the chili peppers. But you probably already knew that if you've heard any of their live stuff, john has quite a voice.

really enjoying this and it is great to have the chord progressions to strum along to it is really helping me to get my rythm something like... more of this please

Nothing quite beats the feeling of cruising through the entire piece to the backing track without missing a note for the first time.

Great lesson, my first here on GMC... spent whole day doing this - in 30 mins a have learned it almost whole... rest of day I spent by learning end of part 5 and my hands still wont obey my mind:) Anyways.. great lesson for begginers to have smt to show off:)

Okee this is sweet, i'm a sort of new beginner and here to learn and start of right.

I've been breaking my head about the backing tracks. Chords progression as descibed is Am-F-G-Am-G but if i play along with the backing i play Am-F-Am-F-Am-F it seems to sound better in line with the backing then the Am-G what is describebd in the chord progression or do i have terrible ears....

Hi Gabriel! I'm a new member here. Excellent work on the lesson. Nicely done! This is great practice for tone and vibrato. I was playing this with the "Spacy Clean" patch on my GT-6 (adds a little delay, chorus, and reverb). Combine that with the fretboard humbucker on a Les Paul and you can lose yourself in this jam for hours. Again, very nicely done. Looking forward to seeing more of your lessons.

I really like this lesson and the style of playing. I am not hearing the G shown in the tab when you play the song in the vid. I can hear the Am, the F, the D and the C, but the first section sounds like it alternates between Am and F and the G doesn't sound right when I add it in. Can you elaborate?

Just wanted to say wow this is an incredible lesson as a begginer I thought this would be impossible but you did a great job teaching it thank you very much for remotivating me into a world I didn't think I was good enough to explore.

I really like this lesson, it's the first one I've attempted.
Just one question, Gabriel - when you perform vibrato, what is it exactly that you do with your fingers?
For eg. when performing vibrato on the B string with the middle finger, at the same time you seem to place the other two fingers on the strings D and G.
Can you pls clarify?

This is a totally awesome piece Gabriel! I was suprised how quickly I could learn such an amazing song! I have to work on my string bending tho... I sometimes just cheat and slide haha (works too )

As a beginner, I thank you whole heartedly for releasing such a friendly and wonderful lesson. It has made me seriously realize that "advanced" technique is secondary to good taste and knowledge of the basics. I'm going to focus hard on my theory from here.

i know them vaguely but i want to be sure

Hi. I had trouble interpreting the chords shown for this lesson. Listening to the backing track I'm sure it is Am F Am F Am F Am F then D F C G and back to Am F etc again. I hope that helps anyone.

Geez I feel bad, I love this lesson (its my first one) but I've been working on it for a week or so and everyone else is doing it in 15 minutes. Oh well at least I'm learning...

Anyway on to the actual question. I'm doing good on this except for the bends. I don't seem to be able to bend up far enough to get the right tone and returning the bend it sounds like a dead note. Anyone have any clues that would help?

Oh man, I don't believe it. I knew when I wrote that question someone was going to come back with "practice, practice, practice" I was even thinking of the best way to come back with "no, thats how you get to Carneige Hall" (I'm not the only one to remember that joke am I?")

Nevertheless I hadn't thought of searching for a specific lesson on bending. I'm making great use of the site huh... Anyway looked though several lessons and David Wallman's Micro Bends Lesson really helped. Especially his lecture (explanation, whatever you want to call lesson 1 in that lesson)
