Edit
browq16th March 2007Man, I can really feel the petrucci vibes coming from this one. Apart from sounding verry cool, This lesson will without a doubt give some good ideas to people how to create there own riff's in this style. This lesson inspires me, wich for me is the most inportant
Keep up the good work, Great lesson!
Andrew Cockburn16th March 2007Hey Gabriel, that had a great vibe to it - looking forward to spending some time on this one!
ezravdb16th March 2007Awesome! very petruccish ![]()
Gabriel Leopardi16th March 2007Thank you! I feel very happy if my music inspires more music! and I also think that inspirations is the most important thing for a lesson.
ezravdb16th March 20077/8 means that there in every measure 7 1/8 notes right?
ezravdb16th March 2007ow its 7/4 O_O oops so... 7 quarter notes
ezravdb16th March 2007ahh, I figured it out in guitar pro
thanks for the lesson, its great
Gabriel Leopardi16th March 2007excelent!
TheProof16th March 2007:S i have mixxed feelings about it lol i mean its definetly good! but the last lick of it is 17-23 is clearly zakk but and petrucci only gets 1 second
i'm wondering if you could do a lesson a little more simalar to the solo in the glass prison by dream theater the 3 string sweeping petrucci does there is harder then most 6 string stuff lol and i've found it verrrrrrry hard to learn maybe a lesson would help;)?
Gabriel Leopardi16th March 2007Hi Proof! Thank you for your suggestions! I understand what you are saying.
Check Petrucci solo album or some Falling into infinity solos! He plays this kind of stuff in those albums.
Petrucci is a great guitarist and I should record lot of lessons to explore all his technique. I could do new lessons about it.
TheProof16th March 2007that would be AWESOME! petrucci=god XD
TheProof16th March 2007oh also another guitarist that there are 0 lessons on and this guy is damn amazing donno if you know him or not but omar rodriguez lopez from the mars volta he plays in crazy time signatures and i think that would make an awesome lesson about like eriatarka or l'via l'viaquez
Eat-Sleep-andJam16th March 2007Man what can I say. I LOVE IT ! I dont know if maybe I have to much distortion or treble up but my bends sound a tad bit dirty on the first part ?
The Uncreator16th March 2007Cool stuff, This is gonna be fun to learn.
Thanks for the vids and lesson
Gabriel Leopardi17th March 2007The Proof: I really like The Mars Volta!! I listen their cds very frequently!! They are sick!! I never studied Omar Rodriguez playing but I think that it could be very interesting!
Gabriel Leopardi17th March 2007Eat-Sleep-andJam: The most important thing is to mute the strings that you are not playing with your right hand.
Thank you Uncreator!

This lesson is a guitar solo over a 7/4 riff in the style of John Petrucci, Steve Morse and Zakk Wylde. It is a very interesting exercise that includes alternate picking, legato and bending. The backing track is a Gm based riff. We will use two different scales in the solo. First we will play a G Dorian scale and then G Pentatonic minor scale with chromatics as passing notes.
