Aaron6th July 2007sickness!!!!!
Dayna6th July 2007nice one Muris!
Ryan6th July 2007Alright, what are the difference in tabs on slides. Like say this. 5/6, and 5s6. Is there any difference?? And if so. Is it like on the 5/6 do you just pick the 5th fret, and then slide it?? And then on the second one. 5s6. Is it like pick 5th fret. Then pick it again and slide??
Jeff6th July 2007WOW! I'm blow away. This will keep me busy for a long time.
IDontWantThisUsername6th July 2007Just the stuff that I like to play =D
(Probably too fast for me though XP)
quebrado6th July 2007awsome man!! yust what i need right now:)
Muris Varajic7th July 2007Ryan,those slides are showing when you need to move your finger and which one, cause there are two ways for fingering, you can slide with your pinky or index finger.Of course, you'll need to pick every note.
Ryan7th July 2007Well i konw that much, but what i was asking is there a difference between 4/7, and 4s7?
and if there is, what is it??
Muris Varajic7th July 20075s6 means that you pick 5 and just move finger to 6,without picking. In here you must pick every note.
I didn't use /type slides in tab cause it has wrong sound in guitar pro tab tho that's probably the right sliding for this what I'm doing in this lesson.
Ryan8th July 2007Ok that answers my question somewhat. So pick everynote!!!
Ryan8th July 2007That acutally makes the song easier HAHA i cna play it now
!! Not up to full speed though. That just kind of confused me some. Now i understand exactly what you mean by the s !!!
Muris Varajic8th July 2007Yeah:)
I probably made small confusion putting those "s".
Next time I'll leave it out.![]()
Cheers Ryan, glad you have good time with it!!
Sircraigery9th July 2007Has anyone seen the movie "Tenacious D - Th Pick of Destiny"? Haha, when I seen the pick glowing I thought of it instantly...
Great lesson Muris!
Muris Varajic9th July 2007Thanks Sir!
Yeah,cool movie,isn't it?![]()
Marcus Lavendell10th July 2007Muris,
I see that you use your pinky very much (which is really impressing). Any particular reason for that?
-Marcus
Muris Varajic10th July 2007Hey Marcus,thanks!
Well,I've probably used to it,to play with pinky as much as I can.
I've never thought about it a lot indeed.![]()
leedbreak13th July 2007Ok, I just spent like 8 hours over the last few days memorizing this lesson
..
Now, I have it memorized and with any luck I will have it just as fast in less than 3 decades, LOL
Do have it pretty fast though
I could never have come close as I am to playing this, with any speed, without Pavels speed stuff. Not only are all these lessons helping with alternate speed picking but more so the practicing of memorizing is also a HUGH part of learning to play at these levels. As it is truly the first part to every lesson on GMC,
Thanks, One wicked of a lesson dude.
Leedbreak
Muris Varajic13th July 2007Thanks Leebreak!!
I'm glad you've been working on this lesson,it IS probably tricky to memorize.
But just look at it as a lesson and as a music piece.
And when you get it,slow it down and then build up tempo slowly.
Let me know how is it going!!
Rockwouldbe16th July 2007i think the compostion is awosme but you have something even better, the layout of the lesson . so many time people forget to put all the time signales and templets
Cheers
Eyal
leedbreak17th July 2007Muris,
I find this lesson impossible to play with a metronome, so I just slow the tab down and play with it.
I can say I am only at 72bpm or I can say I am already at 72. (error free most of the time)
I used to try to be optimistic, but decided "what good would that do"
LOL j/k
Having lot of fun with this one as I see improvement each day
leedbreak17th July 2007Oh and PS
I do really really wish this one had a slower backing.
Muris Varajic17th July 2007Yes,that's a pity for sure.
It's impossible to slow backing a lot with audio stuff inside, like rhythm guitars in this one
This lesson IS sort of advance level and I'll make some easier stuff in a future for sure.
Tell how's it going in a meanwhile!!
leedbreak18th July 20074 hours tonight and still at 72 but I have been able to bring the metronome back in so now it is like regular practice just one heck of a lot harder. It's them there triplets that kill man. 72 sounds slow till they come in. 80 by this time next week in my goal
I am so excited at how much this lesson is helping. When I go back to the other lesson they are getting faster and cleaner. :-)
In the past I have asked Pavel and Kris both to touch on their opinions of accelerating while picking. The old switching to running from walking applied to the picking.
Like 25 identical 16th note measures that go from 80 to 150 and back
Now it is your turn?
Muris Varajic19th July 2007I'll make slow backing track for you,but without rhythm guitars.
Hope that'll help a bit!!
leedbreak19th July 2007Excellent, your help is greatly appreciated, and I look forward to it. Did move to a pretty clean 75 BMP tonight so I will keep trucking on.
It helps that this lesson is very fun to play as long as I see progress.
I had a plan tonight to try play as fast as possible most of the night, without and timing at all, and it did help as I came back in at a strong 75 when I added timing back in.
leedbreak19th July 2007Sorry for coming back in over and over about this lesson, but I want to play like this more than anything I have wanted in a long time. I get totally re-motivated each time a see the video. That is some freakin sweet playing.
Muris Varajic19th July 2007No problem at all!!
Quite soon you'll have 4 slow backing tracks,from 70 up to 130 bpm .
Cheers and let me know how's it going ![]()
Muris Varajic19th July 2007There you go leedbreak :0
Have fun!!
leedbreak19th July 2007great thanks, you do man. I will get busy tonight. I will post progress
leedbreak20th July 2007Can almost do the 90 dude, lookout here I come
Muris Varajic20th July 2007Great!!
Keep it up,but remember to slow it again after while, good for coordination
leedbreak23rd July 20077/23/07
A very productive weekend
Friday
Warming up with the 70 and making somewhat of an attempt at the 90
Sunday
Warming up with the 90 and doing pretty good at the 110
Some very sore fingers today, however. Even a blister on Mr pinky
Muris Varajic24th July 2007Great progress,I'm so glad these BTs are helping you!!!
leedbreak30th July 2007Another weekend and still not 110 perfection just yet but we keep trucking on
Thanks
Flawd9530th July 2007I'm glad that you've decided to add those slow backing tracks. It makes it easier to learn with them. I think it helps to learn it clean as well too, while still having a bunch of fun.. This is one of my favorite lessons on the site so far.. Thanks Muris.
Muris Varajic30th July 2007So glad it's been helping you guys!!
Let me know how is it going, please!!
Leedbreak, don't give up,I'm sure you're getting it really fast. ![]()
leedbreak15th August 2007Hello Muris,
still only a 90
But it is even cleaner and better than I have ever played in any form so again I thank you for this lesson and I also request another alternate lesson real soon.
Muris Varajic15th August 2007Hey!
Glad it's getting better, just keep it that way and you'll achieve more speed I'm sure!
New alternate lesson is on its way,no worries. ![]()
leedbreak25th August 2007If you get bored, I BT at 100 would be sweet :-)
There is one heck of alot of diff from 90 to 110
Muris Varajic25th August 2007Ohh Jason,I'm so sorry..
Unfortunately I deleted project of that lesson quite ago...
My HD's are full of everything so I do cleaning very often.
Could you try with metronome at 100 BPM?
leedbreak26th August 2007Cool, not problem. I do use the metronome to try to build speed on this lesson but the backing is just more fun and makes playing it in front of friends far more impressive
Muris, I have to admit that I find your attitude to be just as pleasing and your lessons,
Thanks again
Muris Varajic31st August 2007Well thanks a lot!!
I'm here to help as always ![]()

That was the purpose of the lessons.
Just don't give up and keep me updated on how is it going!!

Muris Varajic16th September 2007I'm sooo glad you got it DeepRoots!! ![]()
Now you just need to speed it up a bit,but don't take it in a rush.
Keep it clear and accurate, speed will come along the way. ![]()
Chris Evans24th September 2007Hi again Muris, well ... after playin for some 20 odd years I consider myself of a reasonable standard .. that is .. till I stumbled accross this lesson ... wow! Muris Varajic20th October 2007That's great Smells,100bpm is good!! ![]()
Would love to see or hear the way how you do it. ![]()
Chris Evans22nd October 2007Hi Muris, Can record and send it to you if you like
I was using a slightly different fingering for step 6, I worked on using the same fingering for this part as it was really where i was falling down on the speed, and after a couple of nights was able to step up to 110BPM stepping back to 90BPM (amazing how slow it feels to 110)gotta keep hopping back n forth between all the different speeds to build up the speed if that makes any sense? 130bpm still eludes me at the mo lol!
Muris Varajic23rd October 2007That's great,my congrats!!!! ![]()
Please post it in forum"uploads section" or in my sub-board "practicing section".

Nighthawk110th July 2008Muris you should stop making lessons here for GMC or I'll be eaten up with envy and get depressive
..No just kidding. On the contrary this kind of lessons motivate me so much to keep track on the long way of becoming a good guitarist !
jstcrsn31st August 2008is there any way you could provide backing tracks at 100 Bpm between 90 and 110 is my problem at 90 i dip the pick at the string and 110 i need to alt. smoothly but i cant that fast. having the notes to follow is extremly helpful
Muris Varajic1st September 2008Will do my best,cheers ![]()
