Awesome lesson! I've been practising this lesson for a couple of weeks now, and slowly but surely I'm improving and becoming closer to mastering this. I think this is an excellent example on great fast guitar solos, combining alternate picking and sweep picking, fast ascending part(s) and an incredible vibrato.
Great job, Mr. Lavendell!
3 fantastic lessons (I'm not yet at advanced ) Your' vibrato is beautiful and I get chills when I listen to your fast descent of the harmonic a minor scale. I prefer this solo to the advanced...... It's just perfect
Wow this aggresive vibrato is just awesome!!
Four in a row, probably a record. But I saw something Marcus wrote that contradicted what I wrote, so I listened to his full version at 20% speed. You play it like on GP Marcus, not like the tab. 20 16th notes, and then you slide up to the 20th fret. No question about it.
I meant hitting that Vibrato note, not "bent note". Also, thanks for your lessons Marcus, without out you, GMC would be missing something significant.
Also, I am confident that Marcus plays the full lesson as in GP with 20 16th notes, not 22 in the tab. Although I have not verified this as I have with section 2 (lazy). What alerted me to this issue, was that when playing along with him, I always would lag behind him hitting that bent note. It was because I was playing the 2 extra notes I am sure, and does not do that in the full lesson rendition.
I just dealt with the video 2 issue, that had thrown me for some time, things just did not seem to feel right. Now Marcus plays in his fast version like in GP. In his slow he plays 2 extra 16th notes (like in the tab), and also he plays triplets like in beginning and advanced. I don't think that is what he intended, certainly not triplet rhythm here. Although you can do anything if you like it. But I am going with the GP score that has 20 16th notes.
Is it me or does the Guitar Pro-tab and the tab here on this page say two different things? In video 2 it seems to me that you play two different licks, the fast one is the same as the one in the GP-tab, while the slow one is the same as the text-tab.
Anyone who would care to explain which licks the right one?
awsome! i love neo-classical! great lesson man, very inspired
nice lesson!!
great job Marcus
Phew, that comforts me too, because I was just as frustrated as SteveBeer.
@SteveBeer
I see now that I play wrong i that video. I'm really sorry about that! I have no excuse...
The TAB seem to be correct though, so look at that instead!
Argh this is killing me. For some reason none of your guitar pro tabs work for me. It says "please update your guitar pro software" even though I have the latest version =/
Anyone else have this trouble?
Maybe it's just me, but in video 2, you're playing two completely different things (one fast, one slow). When you play fast you don't walk back up to the 13th fret on your high e string, you just go from the 13th fret on the b string to the 13th fret on the high e string. Maybe I'm missing something, maybe not.
Great solo either way!
@nsskid
It's very simple. Just tune down all the strings "one fret" (so the E-string should be tuned to the pitch of Eb/D#, the A-string to Ab/G#, and so on...)
When you've done that on all the strings - you will be in Eb tuning (E-flat)
maybe this is going to sound newbie but....how do i do the tuning "E-FLAT"?
i know it's half step down but.... hehe whats that?
Hey Marcus, you are a freak I just finished the beginner and am going onto the intermediate thanks heaps
@ coffeeman
Use the fingering that's most comfortable to you. Pinky or not - both ways work fine in that lick!
-Marcus
Hi Markus,
The lick from video number 3 has 4 notes per string but you don't use zour pinky finger , whats zour recomendation to do like u or to use the four fingers?
Thanks
and the lick from vid 4 is very similar to the one from Evil Eye by Malmsteen.. can you please tell me the eq setting and perhaps gears used for this song please?
Thanks Marcus, I greatly appreciate your lessons you rock and the three different speeds are really cool, Thanks for all your time and effort!
u forgot the first note! i think its the 11 fret on the e string
vid 3 : i recognize that lick from blitzkrieg by yngwie malmsteen
score. i vibratoed faster then you on a part using good technique, but my tone isn't as good as yours. how the f*** do you make it sound like that. ( first part jk)
Thanks for your comments guys!
Thomas,
Yes it's scalloped (a little bit).
Btw are the frets on your guitar scalloped?
Almost got it all down except the arpeggio starting at the 20th fret! Cant seem to get to speed on that!! Ive been practicing this straight, very good video, I really like it!
"wow... I must have been drunk when I did this tab! I'm really sorry! It should be corrected now.
sorry again "
lol drunk.... anyways nice solos, all three are awesome... cant do the third one -.-
Wow that is such a cool lead.I finally got it down and 100bpm and almost 120.Advanced looks very ruff but can be done if i practice it for hours straight.
how should i set my amp?
Awesome Solo
"Great solo! ... Trying to stop and start GMC video is a real pain (not to mention the horrible bit rate)"
Hi Coch00ch00man,
I thought the same thing about the video player but then I discovered that you can just loop the section of the video that you want by sliding the triangle markers back and forth. Have you tried that?
wow... I must have been drunk when I did this tab! I'm really sorry! It should be corrected now.
sorry again
hey- not meaning to be an ass, but im fairly sure video 4 is also tabbed wrong. could you spend a couple of minutes checking through these tabs please? Many thanks- loving the solo, your vibratos awesome
hey gr8 solo- can you please check the tab on video 2 (3rd video). thanks
FretDancer69,
I can see now that I made a mistake in the tabs. The last two notes should be played on the G-string, just as you said.
Sorry about this! I will fix the tabs a.s.a.p!
umm i think theres a mistake on the last lick
the last 2 notes on the B string? according to the video its played on the g string/
Marcus,
Great solo! Really would like to learn it, but the tab is practically useless. No tempo, no note values, no nothing. It really makes it that much more difficult to learn. Trying to stop and start GMC video is a real pain (not to mention the horrible bit rate). Please invest in GuitarPro. I promise, you will love it (its cheap too). Very easy to use, and a great tool for composition.
Boris
i dont understand the tuning, is it 1 half step down to all strings? thanks
also
great lesson marcus, cant wait for the advanced one! XD
Wow, you made this sound like a new solo. I can do the beginner one, so ill start this one soon!Great lesson!
Great development of the theme, the beginner intermediate concept seems to be working out really well
Not to go overboard on the Vibrato, but I really liked it too. Maybe you or one of the other instructors could do a mini-technique lesson on it?
cool, It's in half step down tuning thought(If you mentioned it I didn't notice) anyways, great stuff learning it now.
Great Stuff, same solo yet you make it sound new, awesome stuff and keep it up.
hey nice job...im gonna have to le4rn this 1 also
Super vibrato Marcus, and what a well structured solo and backing track!
Well done
Ben
Compliments on your vibrato, it's great. Yngwie like one might say :-D
