Couple questions: How many Bpm is this played in ?
And also
----------------------------------------
------------9-10-12-10-9----------------
----------9--------------11-9-11s-13----
--------9-------------------------------
-----11---------------------------------
--12------------------------------------
And that sweeping lick above shown in video 6, On the Three 9th fret notes played in a row from the D to B string , can you use a Barre to play that those notes or will that slow the sweeping or speedpicking up ?
TheProof23rd April 2007metal sweeps are on my christmas list pavel, don't let me down XD
Pavel23rd April 2007BPM is 120
Of course you play it with Barre - just as i did in the video. You only need it for those 9th frets. After you played that you can remove the barre and play the alternate picking section normally.
@TheProof: metal sweeps are in Sweeping 5-string shapes lesson. If you mastered that maybe you could post a video of you sweeping, at the forum ![]()
Granite23rd April 2007The link for the tab(text version) isnt working for me(I dont use guitar pro.)
Again an excellent study by pavel. Keep em coming.
TheProof23rd April 2007the sweeps i do are very BAD lol! specially in comparison to yours but i'm working on john petrucci 3 string sweeps and the human abstract wacked out sweeps and then your vid
you23rd April 2007I saw that you are just making up all your stuff and practicing like 6 hours a day. How long does it take to come up with most of these riffs and things?
The Uncreator23rd April 2007Kickass Lesson and great tunes!
The Uncreator23rd April 2007One more thing, this is probably the best set of licks youve come up with, great melody and feeling!
atconner24th April 2007Uhhm, not to be a nay-sayer, but I can't actually access the tab version. >.> Is anyone else having this problem?
Hey you guitar playin SumB*&^% once again your showin off the greatness you've acheived one day ill be as good as you, ever since i started coming to this site, you immediatley became an inspiration for me to want to learn and be better just that much more youre the greatest Pavel, keep it comin man
Pavel24th April 2007Thanks a lot guys!
@atconner: the tab will be fixed soon - sorry - it's the new interface bug. Thanks for the tip!
@FaithfullyForgotten: go for it man! I am glad i am inspiring you! Really! Thanks again m8!
@you: sometimes i sit down and work on lessons when i have inspiration, and sometimes the licks for the lessons come to me while a regular practice routine so it all depends on my mood. If i get an idea for a lesson it takes me like 30 minutes to develop it into a full lesson, sometimes a bit more - again it's all about how i feel that day! ![]()
Kristofer Dahl24th April 2007Tab link is now working.
Wicked lesson Pavel! ![]()
Pavel24th April 2007Great! Thanks Kris!
GuitarDude24th April 2007I think this will help me alot

you25th April 2007I cna't get my alternate picking to sound right. Instead of flowing smoothly it sounds like it is in sections like 1,2 1,2 1,2 1,2.
Aaron12th May 2007just amazing
Aaron24th May 2007im having the same problem. . . am i doin something wrong
Dansol7th June 2007Sweet lesson
Victafor1st July 2007this is definately one of my favorites. and its in my skill range. great
Jeffrey29th July 2007Im a little sweep-retarded=P Maybe I am not muting the strings right or I have to much distortion, I can't seem to get my sweeps as clean as your no matter what I do=(
Also can you do sweeps in all scaleS? and do sweeps have to be arpeggios? If so to the first ?? can you make a sweeping lesson in anyscale in the key of E?
I love the lesson I hope you keep on making lessons as great as you are now=) great inspiration, Happy playing...
-Jeffrey
Pavel29th July 2007Jeffrey i don't know what you are doing wrong if you don't make a video of you playing sweeps. It could help if i could see your sweeps. Playing them slowly is also a big part of getting them clean.
Sweeping is most often referred to arpeggios, and usually you actually play a chord in arpeggio - note by note. That's the point of sweeping. The thing is - there are so many different chords you can play using sweeping that you'll never run out of ideas.
"in any scale in the key of E?" actually makes no sense. Because if it's in the key of E than you will use E-Major scale as a basic scale. And you will have all the chords that go with key of E at your disposal to play sweeps.
mattacuk14th August 2007Mr Pavel, on part three are you picking before you slide like on the other licks? thanks! ![]()
