Hello my friends,

welcome to this three-level-lesson/solo (beginner, intermediate & advanced. In this first part we're gonna play at beginner-level, and in the next lesson the solo will continue at intermediate level. And finally in the third lesson the solo continues at advanced level. So it gets more tricky for each lesson... ;)

Due to requests at the forum, I've added a new camera angel to these lessons which lets you see the fretboard "through my eyes"!

The scales we use in this solo is e-minor, harmonic minor and pentatonic blues scale. Tempo: 120 bpm

oops, just read the faqs in the forum. those cant be stock pickups!! they sound to good/high output!! next time you change the strings mabe take a peek, there might be a brand name or something on them. .... OR mabe you DO know what they are and you just dont want to tell for fear of someone stealing your tone!!! that might be a good decision - because i would definately steal it!!

one questin Marcus. Why do you change pick ups every 5 seconds? I've never seen someone change pickups so much.

Not say thats bad or anything, your probably my favorite teacher on here. Its just something I was wondering.

One thing I would add is that i still find it useful in lessons when the patterns are shown on the fretboard rather than just saying what key its written in. Still takes me a while to work out which pattern is being used although the act of working it out is probably helping me learn it. Great lesson though sounds cool and is easier to play than it looks at first sight.

Thanks everyone! smile.gif Sorry for my late reply!

@ misterj: I don't know what pickups I use on this guitar, but then, I don't think that's the key to the tone. It's more about how you tweak the amp, and the way you play.

But I see what you mean... hehe! I would have been a smart move to not tell anyone, even if I knew what kind of pickups they are. smile.gif

Try downloading my preset for PODxt, and see if you get the same tone!

Dashooter "Why do you change pick ups every 5 seconds?"

simply because the bridge- and the neck-pickup sounds different. I think some notes sound better with the neck pickup, and some sound better with the bridge pickup.

Would there be any interest in a lesson about this? I think I could come up with some cool exercises...

well i can tell you......trust me the pick ups dont mean to much as far as the sound goes..i downloaded the patch.....I play a hmmm guess 100 dollars guitar....I call it the fubar guitar.....its a honer,,,,,gtx aria pro .some kind of steel bridge thingy...but i got it set up nice and intonated good....And i have the same sound..Its all the way you play the guitar with the patch that give its....tone useing legato is the key to the great sustain.....And thank you marcus for the great lesson on that

I started on learning the first part of the solo and then I just couldnīt help improvising the rest with my minor knowledge on the CAGED "boxes". This track is an amazing jamalong track aswell:)
But now, I must learn the rest of the solo;)

Thanks again for great solo a lesson!!

This is the first thing Iīve decided to learn when I got here.
I started learning it this afternoon and have got it mostly done. Just need to work on the feeling and the enphasis on the key notes.
This is a great solo and after checking the inter. and adv. levels, I cant wait to start learning those.

Well done on a simply awesome solo.

Really digging this lesson, I still find it funny that even though the technique isn't the hardest that marcus has done, this solo is so beyond what a beginning guitarist would even think of phrasing or putting together. But hey you got to start somewhere, you lucky young gmcer's.
