David OToole14th August 2007VERY nice Marcus! Those 'over the shoulder' cam angles look great too. D
misterj14th August 2007what kind of pickups are those? your tone is amazing!
misterj14th August 2007oops, just read the faqs in the forum. those cant be stock pickups!! they sound to good/high output!! next time you change the strings mabe take a peek, there might be a brand name or something on them. .... OR mabe you DO know what they are and you just dont want to tell for fear of someone stealing your tone!!! that might be a good decision - because i would definately steal it!!
Smikey200614th August 2007Nice Lession ![]()

shredmandan15th August 2007Great lesson Marcus! Those are some tight bends you got going on
preownedguitar15th August 2007Love your stuff as always Lavendell! Do you guys post your podxt patches or whatnot so we can practice with same stuff?
one questin Marcus. Why do you change pick ups every 5 seconds? I've never seen someone change pickups so much.
Not say thats bad or anything, your probably my favorite teacher on here. Its just something I was wondering.
misha17th August 2007great lesson... ireally like your
three-level-solo lesson!
i hope there will more of them...![]()
Another great lesson from you Marcus, and the new angle works perfect! Nice job.
Victafor18th August 2007great lesson! i dont think ive ever seen you use your pinky =P
Mav18th August 2007One thing I would add is that i still find it useful in lessons when the patterns are shown on the fretboard rather than just saying what key its written in. Still takes me a while to work out which pattern is being used although the act of working it out is probably helping me learn it. Great lesson though sounds cool and is easier to play than it looks at first sight.
Marcus Lavendell19th August 2007Thanks everyone!
Sorry for my late reply!
@ misterj: I don't know what pickups I use on this guitar, but then, I don't think that's the key to the tone. It's more about how you tweak the amp, and the way you play.
But I see what you mean... hehe! I would have been a smart move to not tell anyone, even if I knew what kind of pickups they are.
Try downloading my preset for PODxt, and see if you get the same tone!

Marcus Lavendell19th August 2007@ preownedguitar: You can get the preset from here: http://www.box.net/shared/hvayxvaif3

Marcus Lavendell19th August 2007Dashooter "Why do you change pick ups every 5 seconds?"
simply because the bridge- and the neck-pickup sounds different. I think some notes sound better with the neck pickup, and some sound better with the bridge pickup.
Would there be any interest in a lesson about this? I think I could come up with some cool exercises...
Marcus Lavendell19th August 2007@ Mav:
Good point, I'll see what I can do.
-Marcus
I would definetely be interested in that.
well i can tell you......trust me the pick ups dont mean to much as far as the sound goes..i downloaded the patch.....I play a hmmm guess 100 dollars guitar....I call it the fubar guitar.....its a honer,,,,,gtx aria pro .some kind of steel bridge thingy...but i got it set up nice and intonated good....And i have the same sound..Its all the way you play the guitar with the patch that give its....tone useing legato is the key to the great sustain.....And thank you marcus for the great lesson on that
xSK8ANx25th August 2007Damn!!
There is no way I can express with word how great your solos are! I will defently try to learn this lesson:)
xSK8ANx25th August 2007I started on learning the first part of the solo and then I just couldn´t help improvising the rest with my minor knowledge on the CAGED "boxes". This track is an amazing jamalong track aswell:)
But now, I must learn the rest of the solo;)
Thanks again for great solo a lesson!!

Pentatonic Gathering25th August 2007This is the first thing I´ve decided to learn when I got here.
I started learning it this afternoon and have got it mostly done. Just need to work on the feeling and the enphasis on the key notes.
This is a great solo and after checking the inter. and adv. levels, I cant wait to start learning those.
Well done on a simply awesome solo.

the fredster2nd December 2007geez i really like your playing. you have awesome tone and great solos.
Marcus Lavendell2nd December 2007Thank you very much!! ![]()
shammy17th December 2007Really digging this lesson, I still find it funny that even though the technique isn't the hardest that marcus has done, this solo is so beyond what a beginning guitarist would even think of phrasing or putting together. But hey you got to start somewhere, you lucky young gmcer's.
ibanezkiller18th December 2007it says Intermediate twice when you select the harder lessons... just telling you. GREAT LESSON anyway
Marcus Lavendell19th December 2007Thanks for telling me! I'll try to fix it a.s.a.p! ![]()

Flushovsky29th November 2008Hi Marcus,
I'm having a really great time working on this awesome lesson.
However, is it possible that you put the video of the entire solo as well ? Because it's nice to play along and see if I can keep up the pace with you.
Thank you agin for this great lesson hoping others like it will come soon.
Keep up the good work mate ;-)
Alexiaden9330th April 2009Hi Marcus,
I really love your three-level lessons, they truly help people find things that sound extremely nice, but also fit their level. I also enjoy the way you add more and more licks and cool stuff as the difficulty increases, but keeping the almost exact same feel to the song ! ![]()
Daniel Realpe23rd April 2010Excellent tone! great lesson
