Welcome to the second, and intermediate part of this three-level-solo!

Instead of playing faster we are going to focus on more techniques. We're still in the key of E-minor and the scales we use are still minor & pentatonic blues scale, same as in the first part.

Tempo: 122 bpm (so it's 2 bpm faster than the previous lesson).

All of your comp's sound like they could be in the 100 greatest guitar solos. I've been practicing a lot, however your stuff is really hard still. The mixture of techniques make my fingers crumble.... they feel like cement pillars.

Love it? Uh yeah, awesome marcus. Are you using the podxt? If so, did you post the patch on the forums anywhere?

How do you make that pinch harmonic squeal so hard? that's the only part of the lesson I still didn't get down.

Marcus, This is just amazing stuff. A while back we had a thread go around about guitarists with the most "feel". I don't think it would be any exaggeration at all to say you play with uber amounts of "feel". Your lessons just drip emotion. Not to take anything away from your chops, cause from where I sit, you have those in spades. And then theres the tone. What can I say, this lesson is my favorite sounding guitar tone. I read elsewhere that all you use is the podxt straight in to the computer. Would it be possible for you to upload the patch for this lesson. I got the other one, and while I'm not 100% sure, I think this one is different. It has more bite, and sounds more raw (if that makes any sense).

Thanks a lot,
Boris

Amazing, you make Vai, Yngwie, Hammett and all the others look like beginners. I love every solo of yours, and especially how the Beginner solo continues into this one. Great job, I'm waiting on the Advanced version.

Thanks all of you, for your comments! I really appreciate it!

"How do you make that pinch harmonic squeal so hard?"
@ Iluha: Check out Pavel's great lesson about pinch harmonics. It's not very difficult, but make sure you add vibrato.

@ preownedguitar & ch00ch00man.

Thanks! Yes, I use a PODtx and plug it straight into the computer. The preset is basically the same, but I believe I put more of the "screamer pedal" in this solo, because the other tone didn't fit. smile.gif

I'll see if I can create a preset of it, and post it here.

Thanks ch00ch00man & Ayen, for your overwhelming comments. It's guys like you that keeps me going! Thank you for that!

I really like the natural harmonic on the 14th fret. That is a great touch to this solo, and something I never thought to use in my solos.

I think this one is the best musically. It isn't just random shred. I really love the tap and pinch harmonic at the beginning. Really awesome.
