Hi everybody and welcome to my first lesson here on GMC. Todays topic is warming up, I will show you what I usually do to warm myself up before a show or recording and give you some ideas about possible variations that might make things a bit more interesting to play. You will come across lots of chromatic runs, scale fragments and a lot of alternate picking, I hope you'll enjoy it.

Very smart thinking Marcus - we have warming up lessons for vocals but none for guitar! biggrin.gif I also love how your teaching style is fluid with a touch of humour.

Welcome to GMC Marcus - we are glad and honoured you found your way! biggrin.gif

Sorry about the video for the 5th exercise, I guess I uploaded exercise 4 twice by accident and I am just fixing this right in this moment :-) Before recording this lesson I was just browsing through all the lessons here on GMC and I realized that nobody talked about warming up yet, so I thought it might be a good idea to have this kind of lessons for guitarists, I am happy you like the lesson :-)

Marcus! WOOOO!

If you got a mental image of some guy holding a beer close to his chest with his other hand in the air screaming, then good. That's the picture I was trying to paint. I look forward to more lessons (quick turn around on the first one too).

What kind of EMG is that in your LP Custom?

Hey Kyldeee, it would be awesome if my lesson could help to solve that problem with your hand, make sure you are seriously warmed up before you play.

Hi Udo, I will stick to english so everybody else can understand my answer too, ok?
The equipment that I used to record this lesson obviously is my Gibson Les paul Custom, equiped with 2 EMG 81 Pickups. The amplifier actually is a software called Guitar Rig 3 (from native instruments) and the camera was a Logitech webcam Fusion :-) If you talk about my live sound, I always use various Gibson Les Pauls, my amps are a Mesa Boogie Tripple Rectifier and a Mesa Boogie Triaxis, the only effects I am using are a Rocktron Intellifex and a Rocktron Xpression
